Sure, many people from many sides commited crimes. However it is and always was clear who pulled the trigger first and who commited crimes which were significantly more than all other sides combined.

Now onto serbs saying its wests fault for sacrificing Srebrenica. this makes it sound like people who commited the crime had no choice in the matter. there was a choice and its clear by whom it was done. no amount of smearing will ever distort the truth as this isnt the 16th century where information gets easilt lost or hard to come by. its all there.

My first reaction to this is that the woman is trying to make a buck from her book.

This fact should give the least objective of you pause to find her credible.
She has claimed in the past that prosecutor Sir Geoffrey Nice was an MI6 spy.

In response, Nice stated that... "She (Hartmann) is neither an investigator nor a lawyer and her professional capabilities rest on her journalist work and work as Del Ponte's spokesperson. Not only that- according to the nature of her job, she was not even permitted to participate in these processes and had no access to documents regarding the investigative process."

Ms. Hartmann might just could give you a good deal on some swamp land too.

No she is not a very nice person. In fact I suspect one of the reasons they are going after her is because she offended so many people.

She used to ring up balkan media whenever they wrote something she didn't like - threatening to write to any European funders. That way she could manipulate the press into writing what she wanted.

A very well known London based balkan media accused of having an anti Serb slant received this treatment a number of times, despite resistance from editors.

I take what she says with a large pinch of salt. When it comes down to it anybody who gets manipulates and controls a free press is suspect for me.

"The former spokeswoman claims that Western countries knew what was going to happen in Srebrenica.."

what a player she is, announcing phony 'revelations' and reversing most important prerogatives of the events.

Yes they knew, everybody knows that Serbs were played into Srebrenica. Muslims first massacred the Serbs and then their army withrew because Muslims and Clinton negotiated such situation to happen. They needed a big reason to attack Serbia and RS, and Srebrenica served that purpose. They counted and rightly, that Serbian troops will seek revenge.

Even Muslims in Bosnia know that Srebrenica's Muslims were very consciously sacrificed by their own government; since there are recently two books issued by the journalists that prove this thesis.

Not that massacre did not happen or that we should see it mildly, but what I am saying that she twists that point of 'NATO knew what was going to happen' as if, they were somehow accomplices of the Serbian side. This argument is super phony, can't believe to see there more people with this kind of agenda.
Probably the Dutch payed her to 'speak loud' this belated 'revelations'.

I'm glad that hartmann is coming clean with various points, and i think this prosecution/persecution of her is totally inappropriate. but her comments here just skim the surface.

i have mentioned before that i met her briefly, and she was not, uh, the nicest person. to put it mildly. maybe it was bad timing or a bad day. nevertheless i respect her and wish her the best.

"They sacrificed people and we know that at least 8,000 people were sacrificed for peace," she said, adding that Milošević had received everything he wanted in Bosnia-Herzegovina from the Dayton Peace Accords.

Milosevic didn't sacrifice anyone but himself. Women and children were bussed out of Srebrenica after the Army notified everybody that they were going in. Those who stayed to fight, died... You can thank Oric, Izetbegovic, Clinton and the Dutch for sacrificing (enter inflated # here) men/boys...

I always hoped that Mladic would come out with the truth, but now I am more concerned that he will commit 'suicide' at the moment he is aware he will be caught. Too many people(s) are interested in his silence.

I fully agree with cees.
At this time and point is to much at stake, and I have no doubts that either Mladic will comitt suicide if is a true serb patriot or he will be killed by UDB. Those secrets can never be reveiled at any coast.

I commend B92 for posting this article. Interesting that Serbia is involved in such a cover-up. I know you will get some threats over this, but the people need to know what the Serb government did in their name.

During the discussions around the role of the Dutch UN-soldiers in Srebrenica and the fall of the Dutch government upon that, one fact stand central: the Dutch were left alone by the rest of the international peace-seeking community. They asked insistently for support especially from the French side, but didn't get it. Since then the rumors are high that the international community did let Srebrenica happen. If Hartmann says that she saw proof about it, I believe her instantly, because the internationals were never on the same level of interest. Maybe we'll know somewhere in the future.

I hope she is right. But what makes me astonished is that they find time to prosecute mostly Serbian crimes as other sides involved we innocent like Mother Theresa.

Key word in entire article is FORMER. Why can't this mosquito write a book & disappear into the background like del Ponte?

Focus in on the TRUE problem/concern for the world - illegal independence & recognition of Kosovo.

This is so tired.

the sad thing is that once you see what the "scorpions" were up to, everything else looks like a kindergarden play.

Serbia should wash its hands once and for all with its criminal past. You have neighbours you know, not prison rooms next to your borders.

Carla Del Ponte did a poor job and she defended the interests of the most guilty part in the Balkan wars, Serbia.

Grateful that Hartmann is contributing to reveal the truth.

"They sacrificed people and we know that at least 8,000 people were sacrificed for peace,"

This is a serious accusation, now the question is who allowed this sacrifice and what was then the real world (US-NATO) political agenda behind it.
Hopefully the truth will prevail but not based on only statements but real facts!
