That Visoki Decani Serbian monastery you visited yesterday, you know the UNESCO heritage site? Well it was established in 1327, and society DID exist there, Serbian society.

Well, he's gone and nothing changed. In fact, I think he may have insulted the Bosnian muslims with his speech. The security imposed in Beograd during his visit and his behavior just gave the opposition political ammunition against the ds. He made promises that america can't keep - how can america force the eu to accept Serbia? That and the economic crisis spells doom for the liberals in Beograd. And he did not win any friends among the Kosovo Serbs by crashing his way into Visoki Decani - he will regret that move in the future. All he did was commit america's foreign policy to the big denunciation by the ICJ next year. That, coupled with the economic crisis will severely damage america's relationship with the eu.

What irony! The US spent the last decade acquiring military bases abroad ..... and now finds that it can't afford their upkeep anymore! Obama tried today to close down Guantanamo but apparently there those in the Senate are still in la la land totally oblivious to their country's economic straits!

What makes you think that the deal with the West includes Kosovo? I am sorry to remind you that Kosovo really is not as important to the West as you seem to think. Other than your own wishful thinking, I don't think anything has changed substantially at all. And I didn't know that Russia ever officially left the Contact Group at all in the first place.

Actually I have more bad news for you. It is not just the Russians who will veto "Kosova"'s UN entry, the Chinese will do the same too. And if you expect either of them to give in to the West, look at Taiwan and think again! They have barred Taiwan for nearly 40 years now!

If anything, don't be too surprised if it is the West who will ultimately be the ones who climb down. Just like the US abandoned its Saigon lackeys in the Vietnam war in 1973. And a year earlier in 1972 it also abandoned Taiwan at the UN.

Yes , MikeC you are right this is the bigest US Military based after the one in Germany, but that is soon to reduce drasticly and the one in Kosova to expand further. I am very happy that my compatriots in Kosova is a dear friend of USA, since I hold duel citizenship(Kosova and US).
