That's mean, that Albanian authorities organized 2004 riots. If Mr Haradinaj can stopped attacks against Visoki Dečani - they can stopped every attacks. But they don't need to stop them.

'For that, I am not sure, why Chilandariou, Decani or Studenica would be open for Biden at THIS moment because I do not know much detail about his visit today.
'
Some background:

Floor speech in the Senate by Joe Biden in March 2005:

"[In Jan 2001], I
flew by helicopter to western Kosovo where I visited the
Serbian Orthodox Visoki Decani Monastery, ...
During the fighting in 1999, the Serbian Orthodox monks
of this monastery had saved Kosovar Albanians from
persecution by Serb forces. ....
Nevertheless, when I visited the Visoki Decani Monastery
nearly 2 years later, Father Sava and other monks told me
that they were in great danger. ...
Knowing that the territory around Decani is Mr.
Haradinaj's political base, I sent him a confidential letter
after I returned to Washington. In it I wrote that I was
counting on him to personally guarantee and protect the
Serbian Orthodox monastery I had just visited.
In March of 2004, serious riots against Serbs and other
non-Albanian minorities broke out across Kosovo.
Hundreds of homes were destroyed, and many medieval
Serbian Orthodox churches and monasteries were burned
to the ground. KFOR proved unable or unwilling to
prevent this destruction. ...
One of the few venerable monasteries that remained
untouched was Visoki Decani. Mr. Haradinaj had kept his
promise."

Somebody in Serbia tell him we don't live live in medival times.
(Denis, 20 May 2009 15:49)

You're right Denis, we dont live in medieval times. We live in the 21st century where democracy, peace, justice, tolerance and co-existence are the norm in every civilized society except in Kosmet where the local irridentist Albanian interpretation of tolerance and understanding is very medieval.

Indeed many medieval Serbian Orthodox Churches have been destroyed by irridentist Albanian mobs displaying very medieval traits of religious and ethnic intolerance.

His Grace Bishop Artemije is completely understood, placing the situation in it's current perspective. We can not blame his Grace for stating the facts regarding the situation his flock is currently in. At the same time, the Serbian Orthodox Synod showed to the world that it is a follower of Christ's word, weloming Mr. Biden to visit Visoki Decani monestary. Hopefully, Mr. Biden will find wisdom by his visit there and realize that mistakes can be reversed.
(Colonialist, 21 May 2009 19:34)

I couldnt agree more. The Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church was wholly correct in overruling Bishop Artemje. I have no doubt that His Grace is an honourable man but the Synod showed maturity when faced with a bitter bigot that is Joe Biden and in an act of Christian decency, hospitality and kindness opened their doors to Joe Biden and welcomed him in.

No doubt Mr Biden was taken aback at the kindness shown to him at Decani and as he walked into the holy site his ears would have been ringing with the "Byzantine-Albanian religious heritage" nonsense from Thaci & co.

Szemi,

I read your link and as I see a lot of people knew about the "Polish cavalry charge".
I am still confused about it. I lived in Germany for 8 years and worked there in the export business. I try to remember if I saw that documentary film about that famous charge in Germany or somewhere else. It looked very authentic.

From other side - polish peoples mostly supported Serbia in their fight for cover Serbian borders (including Kosovo).
(Cracow man, 21 May 2009 11:14)

I also heard about Hungarian army personal mutilating itself in 90-s being unwilling to fight Serbs.

So much about Hungarian "enemy". BTW: the Hungarians on B92 have at least 2:1 ratio with pro / against Serbia and that corresponds to my experience in the real life. All this DESPITE the crimes committed by Tito sadistically murdering over 20000 (probably closer to 40000) of Hungarian villages and DESPITE stupid politicians on both side during last 150 years.

If you look in earlier history, very few animosity was before 1848. Most notable exception: the Hungarian king Zsigmond was guilty attacking Serbs from behind in August of 1389 - thus driving them to forge an alliance with Turks and in the fact annuling what was essentially a Serbian VICTORY (at least a draw - but not defeat) on Kosovo battle.

Sadly, Kosovo Battle turned to be a defeat not because of Turks, but because of Christian forces attacking Serbia few weeks later and driving the Queen to ally with Turks in order to throw them out. Interestingly, that fact is rarely mentioned. Of course, King Zsigmond was a mixed blessing (see Jan Hus) mildly speaking and he was a German from Luxembourg - hardly a Hungarian territory.

In any case as I know, Serbs "lost" Kosovo battle less to Turks, more to Germans few month later.

Szemi - if you are familiar with that issue, please tell us more.

Milošević died as criminal??? Or mayby was killed because ICTY helplessness??
ICTY in Hague gave out not a single sentence against Milošević!! Nothing!! They have NOTHING TO PROVE. He was only SUSPECTED - like Serbian prime minister Milan Milutinović who was SIX YEARS in Hague prison and finally - ICTY sentenced that he is INNOCENT!!!! Six years in prison for innocence!!!! This is western hypocrisy!!. They think - oh... he is Serb - than must be guilty. But when they start investigation... Result is different.

And finally Mark - think about US government. They boycotted International Criminal Court and exclude american citizens and military personnel from extradition by the ICC. Serbia - fully cooperate with ICC!!

German war propaganda. Polish cavalry NEVER charged agaist tanks - because only stupid commander can give order to charge against tanks. Polish cavalry fought ON THE GROUND. They have artillery and anti-tank weapon, who was very effective against tanks (one polish cavalary brigade destroyed about 50 tanks in Battle of Mokra).

Szemi,

Thank you for your introduction to Polish history. Yes I am very familiar with Kosciuszko and Bem, the Polish contribution in the RAF and also in Italy (at Montecasino and other places if I am correct). If the Polish army would have been better equiped in 1939 than the Germans would have had a tougher time because the Poles were very brave. I recall having seen once a documentary of WWII, where part of the Polish cavalry attacked advancing German tanks to hold up their advance at least briefly. I also mourned
those thousands of Polish officers, who were executed at Katyn.

(Petrit, 20 May 2009 18:32)

My dear Petrit,
Your comment above is shocking! I am very glad it has been posted because it is a true reflection of widespread Albanian opinion. You may not realise but you have just attempted to justify the destruction of Serbian churches and history and insinuated as a poster above also did that these priests should be thrown out.

There is absolutely no justification for the simple reason that these priests were not the ones who initiated Albanian expulsion or even suggested it, you have turned your gun on the wrong person. These priests have lived through the horror which was inflicted on them at the hands of your people, the Kosovar Albanians, who advocated the succession of Kosovo and Metohija did so by expelling and torturing the weaker outnumbered Serbs, when this was not enough they wished to destroy all traces in an attempt to rewrite history.
Note my use of the word people, it is your average Kosovar Albanian who joined the KLA, not proffesional soldiers who were nationalists, it was the Albanian nation living in Kosovo and Metohija. These people were terrorists because they provoked Serbian aggression by attackin civilians in an attempt to confront and exsacerbate the respone of the VJ.
Once the VJ was forced to leave by NATO they turned their guns on the unarmed Serbs remaining and completed their mission, which in course led to their disbanding as their goal was achieved. The leaders were turned into heros and politicians (democratically voted in of course) showing us that it is the average Albanian who advocates and supports these actions, not a isolated group of extremists.
Therefore the conclusion as the bishop so rightly came to is valid; terrorists have attempted to remove Kosovo and Metohija from Serbia and are still at large.

This more recent and more successfull attempt to grab Kosovo and Metohija is merely a modern version of the acts commited by the puppet Albanians of WW2, again I must stipulate that it was the Albanian nation's ideology to iradicate Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija as their was widespread support for "Greater Albania" at any cost, Skanderbeg is your nation's hero and was the name of the Albanian division of SS demonstrating yet again a "widespread" lust for Serbian iradication. This has not tarnished his name in any way demonstrating no regret for these actions.
However, Albanians must learn that they were not succesufull then just as they will not be succesfull now or ever; Turks, Nazis, NATO or anybody else will never help you in succeeding to rip Kosovo and Metohija from Serbia.

In the best manner of our (Serbian) cultural, historical, christian hospitality tradition, Biden should be presented with the most valuable gift: the pictures of all churches destroyed by peace-loving Albanians. Throw in some of those "beautiful" videos of "work in progress" cheered by young Albanians. A blessing for the visit? Why not. The rest will be between him and God anyway.

Joe,
I am very happy to see that you are interested in history and geography.Well first of all I think this is a forum and the space is too limited for giving you a lesson on polish history and as you might have noticed my english is not the best as opposed to my polish or hungarian .But if you are really interested in it I would recommend you
a book by Norman Davis:God's Playground: A History of Poland,http://www.amazon.com/Gods-Playground-History-Poland-Origins/dp/0231053517 http://www.libri.hu/konyv/lengyelorszag-tortenete.html .It is very long but easy to read( I mean not pseudoentelectual).Otherwise I know exactly who and how much contributed to the defaet of turks.Thank you for informing me about serbs, hungarians ,austrians, germans and croats(although you have forgotten about romanians, slovens, thr greek, lithuanians and your 'favourits' the russians who gave the ottomans the final kick). As a person who on mother's side originates from a polish and on father's side from a hungarian military family I am very much interested in that segment of history as well as the history of the WW2.Among the others for this reason I learned serbo-croat(this is how it was called when I studied it and passed the advenced level exam in Rigó utca).I have visited personally most battlefields and fortresses in different countries(including
Mohács,Beograd(Nándorfehérvár),Sisak,Kosovo Polje,Eger etc).which played important role.So believe me I know how the different nations contributed to this fight but I also know that even the turks themselves pay the highes respect among their enemies to The cavalery of the polish-lithuanian commonwealh(the army with one of the best Win-loss balance in the military history( btw which was formed by serbs escaping to poland after the turkish occupation of their country and which also included many hungarians.)and Jan Sobieski himself(btw one member of the family Sobieski Tamás is a journalist in Hungary I know him personally)As to the polish historical achivments well as I mentioned the space is too short But as an american-hungarian you may be familiar with names such as Tadeusz Kosciuszko Or Józef Bem (outstanding figures of american and hungarian wars of independence) .You may also know that hungarian events of 1956 were inspired by what had happened in Poland earlier and that 80 % of blood supplies came from polish people(here I would like to remember those chetniks who despite not too good serb-hungarian relationship dared to fight on hungarian side in Széna tér against soviets). As a huge anti-commie you may have heard about 1920 Miracle on Wistula when Poles prevented bolsheviks from further advencment saving Europe from this plague(getting many wepons and amunition from hungarians). So the list is long and space is limited but if you are really interested well there is the book and if you come to Hungary in order to renovete your transdanubian cottage and I happen to be here as well I am willing to spaek to you about polish history and achivments as well as common points of polish-hungarian or polish-serb history for hours(including the stories of my grandfather's brother who was an RAF pilot saved by chetniks in 1943( btw during 1940 battle of britain 20 % of RAF pilots were poles))

(Petrit, 20 May 2009 18:32)"

I am not surprised or shocked to read this kind of comment and it seems like a cheap justification and excuse for cultural and historic genocide. The real tragic of the Balkan was the 500 year occupation by the Muslim Ottomans and this is the main source of a lot of Balkan nationalism. Maybe to follow your logic all mosques and anything related to Islam should be destroyed and made into a far-distant mythe. Did that happen? No! Please check the following link what Albanians like to do with members of Serbian Orthodox Church because they represent part of a culture most Albanians loath, resent, hate, and most likely are very jealous of.

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.rastko.rs/kosovo/istorija/img/terror8.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.rastko.rs/kosovo/istorija/savic_skenderbeyss.html&usg=__hfLKymWAnXJetOqESwqtXZ78rEc=&h=413&w=300&sz=38&hl=en&start=14&um=1&tbnid=pCa3HnXzcbAWeM:&tbnh=125&tbnw=91&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dss%2Bskanderbeg%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den-us%26sa%3DX%26um%3D1

But you know what. It shows tolerance that your comments are posted here (even though I think the past the threshold of what is acceptable). Beautifully phrased Bishop Artemije. You are a true inspiration to many Serbs. Unfortunately it can become even worse and more embarrassing when Thaci will join him while visiting the High Dečani monastery (the thought of that already makes me sick) and when he will explain to Bidden that it is a beautiful example of medieval Albanian Catholic architecture and that before that an Illyrian church had stood on the same location. And Biden will feel so proud, not knowing that it is called historical and cultural genocide. Let the EU and NATO waste precious tax money to the greatest and most extravagant reception that the Kosovo Albanians have planned for their hero. Interesting times we are living in.

It is time to get these spewers of hatred and propaganda which masquerade as priests, and throw them out of Kosova. Church & State are separate in the democratic world, but not the Serbian Church. The Serbian Church is, and always has been, a source of religious hatred, intolerance, and xenophobia towards anyone who doesn't subscribe to their faith. No priest should use the labels "terrorists" to describe a whole nation.

Just because he is a high ranking member of the Serbian Orthodox Church that should not prevent him from expressing his own opinion (even if it is about politics, domestic (Serbian) in this case). An igumen can deny anyone's visit if (s)he finds it is not proper. Usually, Decani is more liberal than Pec Patriarchate to grant permit to visit, but I would make an exception this time.

Politics is politics, but like I am not welcome to Medina and Mecca - in the fact, I can't get visa and if I would, Medina and Mecca is are closed for me by local law.

For that, I am not sure, why Chilandariou, Decani or Studenica would be open for Biden at THIS moment because I do not know much detail about his visit today.

These places should be open only if his tone during the visit in BG shows some visible progress compared with the past.

"No wonder why Albanians attacked Serbian churches in 2004. They represent the very core of Serbian nationalistic views which caused so many deaths and tragedies in the Balkans."

Biden was in Belgrade today to give a crystal clear message. Kosova is NOT in Serbia, and the sooner you accept it the better it will be.

I am not surprised or shocked to read this kind of comment and it seems like a cheap justification and excuse for cultural and historic genocide. The real tragic of the Balkan was the 500 year occupation by the Muslim Ottomans and this is the main source of a lot of Balkan nationalism. Maybe to follow your logic all mosques and anything related to Islam should be destroyed and made into a far-distant mythe. Did that happen? No! Please check the following link what Albanians like to do with members of Serbian Orthodox Church because they represent part of a culture most Albanians loath, resent, hate, and most likely are very jealous of.

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.rastko.rs/kosovo/istorija/img/terror8.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.rastko.rs/kosovo/istorija/savic_skenderbeyss.html&usg=__hfLKymWAnXJetOqESwqtXZ78rEc=&h=413&w=300&sz=38&hl=en&start=14&um=1&tbnid=pCa3HnXzcbAWeM:&tbnh=125&tbnw=91&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dss%2Bskanderbeg%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den-us%26sa%3DX%26um%3D1

Slandering the Serbian Orthodox Church is so immature. I think that the Roman Catholic Church and Islam have (OK, the extremists who interpreted things differently) have been responsible for orders of magnitude more blood and suffering. So just keep agitated because no Kosovo Albanian will have the guts to throw him or any official from the Serbian Orthodox Church out of Kosovo province (even your EU and US masters will think that would be extremely bad for PR). Those "terrorists" that you refer to quoting the State Department were present in the white house not long ago, and were very welcomed. Unlike your FM Vuk Jemeic who was main to wait in the White House halls for hours, like a school boy in the headmasters corridor. In the end wasn't even seen by officials there.

Biden was in Belgrade today to give a crystal clear message. Kosova is NOT in Serbia, and the sooner you accept it the better it will be.

He will say that recognizing Kosova is not a condition for EU integration but let's face facts: Serbia cannot join the EU with undefined borders.

(Petrit, 20 May 2009 18:32)"

I am not surprised or shocked to read this kind of comment and it seems like a cheap justification and excuse for cultural and historic genocide. The real tragic of the Balkan was the 500 year occupation by the Muslim Ottomans and this is the main source of a lot of Balkan nationalism. Maybe to follow your logic all mosques and anything related to Islam should be destroyed and made into a far-distant mythe. Did that happen? No! Please check the following link what Albanians like to do with members of Serbian Orthodox Church because they represent part of a culture most Albanians loath, resent, hate, and most likely are very jealous of.

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.rastko.rs/kosovo/istorija/img/terror8.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.rastko.rs/kosovo/istorija/savic_skenderbeyss.html&usg=__hfLKymWAnXJetOqESwqtXZ78rEc=&h=413&w=300&sz=38&hl=en&start=14&um=1&tbnid=pCa3HnXzcbAWeM:&tbnh=125&tbnw=91&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dss%2Bskanderbeg%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den-us%26sa%3DX%26um%3D1

But you know what. It shows tolerance that your comments are posted here (even though I think the past the threshold of what is acceptable). Joe,
I am very happy to see that you are interested in history and geography.Well first of all I think this is a forum and the space is too limited for giving you a lesson on polish history and as you might have noticed my english is not the best as opposed to my polish or hungarian .But if you are really interested in it I would recommend you

Yes I am very familiar with Kosciuszko and Bem, the Polish contribution in the RAF and also in Italy (at Montecasino and other places if I am correct). If the Polish army would have been better equiped in 1939 than the Germans would have had a tougher time because the Poles were very brave. Ataman, #6:

If you are attempting to rationalize Bishop Artemije's attitude with Saudi practices, go right ahead because no one can stop you. But the world opinion definitively disapproves the Saudi behavior. That is the problem with many comments in here, no one seems to be interested in practical solutions and everyone holds tight to odd opinions that have no appeal.

"Knowing that the territory around Decani is Mr.
Haradinaj's political base, I sent him a confidential letter
after I returned to Washington (...) One of the few venerable monasteries that remained
untouched was Visoki Decani. Mr. Haradinaj had kept his
promise"

That's mean, that Albanian authorities organized 2004 riots. If Mr Haradinaj can stopped attacks against Visoki Dečani - they can stopped every attacks. But they don't need to stop them.
