Obama should have came instead, he would have been welcomed and received as he doesn't represent the negative view Serbians hold of the US administration.
(AA, 19 May 2009 19:19)

The road that Serbia has taken it will take another two decades for a US President to come and visit Belgrade. Hopefully things will change before my prediction.

Considering USA saved you from an economic collapse with an IMF
Agim

The US put Serbia in economic difficulties to begin with by bombing our infrastructure. Besides, don't be so sure Biden is coming to Belgrade with a message to recognize Kosovo.

"The administration official said Mr Biden will try to seek a "modus vivendi" between Serbia and Kosovo..."

"In a sense, we're going to have to agree to disagree," he said.

Having Russia behind us that is all the Americans can say.

It is really funny to read Biljana and Kate post but I think that they write things like that since thay are not in the position of Tadic. Otherwise, if they were in his shoes Biden would be welcomed at the airport.

Serbia needs support not isolation ladies. Thank god number of those that support isolation is decreasing.

Let us end this era of isolation once and for all...

Couldn't he just send Tadic an email? For instance.

Hey Tadic, you must do as I say and help me with Bosnia and that place called... ummm.... Kosovo or is it Kosova... or Kosove? You know what I mean. Do it or else!

Now that would have saved his carbon footprint and not inconvenienced our citizens so much.

"Considering USA saved you from an economic collapse with an IMF loan you are being mighty ungrateful. He comes with good messages:
Lay off Kosova 110% and get rid of Republika Srpska as a separate entity and you may get in EU.
(Agim, 19 May 2009 14:59) "

Firstly let me say that I do NOT agree that Serbia should borrow from IMF and thus be bounded by the latter's onerous conditions. The IMF actually made the Thai baht crisis worse in the 1990s through such impositions.

Secondly what is this nonsense about the US "saving" Serbia from ruin? The IMF money is a LOAN not an aid. Loans have to be repaid with interest. And the US is only ONE IMF member, albeit with the most voting power but the US share of votes itself is NOT enough to approve any IMF loan to Serbia or anyone else -- even this will very likely change in the future as the US share of contributions decline and the Chinese take up the call by the world to increase its contributions.

As for the EU, I do not think all Serbians are keen on joining it and so if that is the best prize you can offer for recognizing Kosovo's illegal udi, well its back to the drawing board for you! Srpska's existence, by the way, is guaranteed by Dayton, this accord Biden's people just reaffirmed today.

Besides you have to get through your thick head that now one can get rid of Republica Srpska. RS is "the reality on the ground". Besides, I suggest Albaians grant independence to the greek territory in south Albania, Northern Epirus. The territory belongs to Greece.
Kosovo is Serbian forever. Proof of that are the hundreds of Serbian churches and monasteries in Kosovo which gives Serbs eternal right to that territory.

I am so ashamed of Serbia and its leaders for letting this man ever stepping a foot on the territory of Serbia. If Tadic was a man of honour he could have find an urgent excuse and fly to Bratislava, Bucharest, Athens or even Banja Luka which would be even the best option in order to explain to this arrogant American what Respublika Srpska means to Serbia and that it is going to stay as it is, still intact, with the huge influence from Serbia until the day of final separation from Bosnia.
That is how I would do if I was a president of Serbia.
Unfortunately, I am not a president nor his adviser but a overly frustrated citizen due to Biden's visit.

MikeC: "If it is neccessary to meet with Mr Biden why couldn't it have been done elswhere? The whole country will come to a stand still for this to be able to visit Serbia and spread his propaganda."

I agree! What an insult to people who were so affected by his thoughtless and offensive words and the attack on Serbia in 1999, which he wholeheartedly supported.

I don't think that he should be welcome in Serbia, and I think that the US should have sent someone in his place. This is total disrespect.

Wasn't his son in a 'diplomatic' position in Kosovo in 2001?

Sure, but a power that is living on borrowed time with its US$11.2 trillion (and still growing) national debt!

Regarding the police chief's words (assuming he was accurately quoted), I gather most Serbians would be ashamed of his subservient demeanor. To those in Belgrade who will have their lives undeservedly inconvenienced by this warmongering visitor, I'd say -- just hang in there, the day won't last forever. He will be gone sooner than later!
