This is a tough call, and that is one reason that i was referencing the moscow police brutality action -- it (homophobia and attitudes towards lgbt population) is all relevant and doesn't just stop at our "neat" little borders.
i support these parades, marches and public events of course -- it is a shame that they should be changed or cancelled due to the threats (real or perceived) of intolerant bigots, but that is nothing new -- i've seen it personally in the US over the years, often.
of course what you strive for is public support, mass education and awareness, but it doesn't happen by magic, so therefore the lgbt/human rights community needs to push ahead. on the other hand, if you know there will be violence and blood spilt, is it worth it?
there needs to be a lot of behind the scenes organizing, and assurances from the police/autorities that all participants will be protected, not assailed or assaulted. in many such instances, police have remained "neutral", ie standing there dumbly while people are attacked. i believe that this was part of the story in sarajevo last year, along with a concerted media campaign directed ag. lgbt persons and especially activists.
whatever the decision, good luck and all the best -- you'll need it.
