Serbia is a democracy with freedom for speech for everybody.
So Jovanovic can talk whatever he wants about signing Kosovo away but remember:If he takes concrete steps in order to violate Serbias constitution he will be immediately imprisoned and his party will be abolished.
Thanks god his extremists constitute rarely 5% of the electorate and will not survive the next elections.
In my view all democratic forces(DS,SRS,DSS etc.) should join together in ignoring these extremists until they change their western-paid rhetoric regarding Kosovo.
The west needs some useful Serbian idiots that are ready to sign away parts of the country and legalize the ethnical cleansing of Serbs for some dollars.
Everybody knows that "Cedi" drives around in a Porsche Cayenne surrounded by 30 bodyguards .
Not to mention his visits of high ranking gangsters a la Legija in the Belgrade prison.

Roberto, bganon,

My problem with Cedo is, he somehow reminds me of Viktorka to much.

Viktor Orbán begun as even more liberal than Cedo - but changed the direction several times, with his cult increasing.

bganon is right on regarding that. And K-Albanians should watch, isn't a new Milosevic born there?

Maybe I am paranoic, but everything reminding of personality cult scares me of.

So...where is the opposition in LDP?
The point is, Liberal parties all over West function in a smiliar way, but no party considers being Biritsh/Canadian/American/French etc, a bad thing which should be demeaned and ripped apart.

I don't see this as a liberal party - well at least not to compared to the parties in the West.
There is nothing they're liberal about - this is more of a pro-interventonalist party, than a liberal party.
In many of their policies they're quite extreme.

This political party scares me possibly to the same extreme far right weirdos here freak me out.

No offence to anyone, of course. It is just as it appears to me.

Let no one claim Serbia is not a democracy, Cedo proves that. It shows that all ideas, no matter how crazy, have a voice in Serbian politics if they so choose to do so.

Roberto, reality check...

Nothing is Black & White like you seem to think it is. Not all Republicans are as Evil as Bush, and not all Democrates are as enlightened as Obama.

Notice who loves Cedo, it is albanians and roberto 'from frisco'. Basically, those who dislike Serbs and come on here all the time and spread their anti-Serb hate mongering. That should tell everyone something.
I wish that albanians came and took Cedo away, and that he joined your fake temporary 'government' in Pristina. Please take him, he is of no use in Belgrade, and Serbia does not need people of that ilk - people who work against the interests of Serbia and work for outsiders.

I believe that cedi is right of course, and have argued these themes many times. but when you do, you are accused (here) of "hating serbs" or in his case, of being a traitor.

it is not a traitor to take an unpopular and principled, even pragmatic stand. he is smart enough to realize that Serbia has "lost" kosovo/a long ago -- but that doesn't mean that it has to be lost to SERBS. there is a big difference there, but oviously many on the other side do not see it -- did not see it throughout yugoslavia, and thus the hell of the 90s and beyond. and now the eternal self-victimization, and unwillingness to see the truth of the past.

many of us, in the US, have often supported minority positions here -- believe me, it is only a modern miracle that obama won this time, a combination of many disparate historical forces and the utter devastation and moral paucity of the bush/cheney regime. otherwise the democrats could easily have lost, again, as they so often did in the previous years. does this mean that i must vote Republican because the majority does? that i must support idiotic not to mention amoral positions because the majority does? promote racism, sexism, homophobia because the majority does?

we have to try to gain clarity, and not just go along because the rest of the masses appear in that direction. cedi has not been afraid to take unpopular stances, and of course not only does he risk his political career, but esp. over there, he risks his very life and that of his family.

so bravo cedi, and all those inside serbia that support a forward thinking and pragmatic appraoach to kosovo/a, the hague, and the world at large. do not be afraid, intimidated, do not allow yourselves to be marginalized into silence. take pride!

I got their little manifesto in Saturday's newspapers and will carefully read it.
I don't like the autocratic style from some in the LDP leadership, there have been some high profile complaints on this.

Nor do I like Milic, former deputy police minister during the state of emergency.

At best the idea of LDP remains an idea and their ticket is one of hope of a future and change.

Unlike the usual lot that we get in, they might actually change something, but I have a bad feeling it will be mostly the things I am against changing.

And as regular readers will know I am not a fan of cult of personality and too much of LDP seems invested in one leader...

Too bad for you however that Jovanovic and his LDP are so unpopular in Serbia. Why don't Pristina invite him to migrate to Kosovo? I am sure you will be very happy with this perfect Serb there!

Logic,
Let me ask you a question. pretend that there was an Albanian political party in Kosovo and their agenda was to give up the UDI to show friendship; would you say that its approach was visionary or would you say that these were the words of sellouts and the lunatic fringe who, despite their flowery rhetoric, were not reasonable enough or stable enough to run a ice cream stand and never mind a state

L*O*G*I*C

He repeated that it is the party's stance that the "Kosovo policy" should be changed, "in order to through friendship and partnership with Albanians show that Serbia can be a different county".
