Official—South Stream to cross Serbia

The signing of an agreement to form a Serbian-Russian company for the construction of South Stream has dispelled speculation the pipeline could bypass Serbia.

"The SCO is not an anti-NATO organization, like the Warsaw Pact was"

SCO by the way did sign under to defend any member against foeighn aggression.

Fact is that NATO didn´t dare attack Russia and start WW3 for their little puppet regime in Georgia over Ossetia, which isn´t a member of SCO either. Much less so for any member state of SCO.

Get over it already! NATO is a toothless paper tiger, Its one thing to attack and occupy a defenseless country like Afghanistan but another all together to attack a superpower and it´s allies...

2015 is not a realistic date of completion for this pipeline. However, if it makes a certain country feel good then I'm all for it since failure to complete the project on time will incur heavy fines for all involved. 2051 is a more realistic date of completion.

The SCO is not an anti-NATO organization, like the Warsaw Pact was, so why not just remain neutral, because even the SCO was against NATO, it would not be a match (it's military expenditure is little over 10% of that of NATO).

with the economy downtourn, this project will take between 25-30 years to be done.
By then,Europe will be using other energy resources ,wich means that, South Stream has to be diverted to Africa.

"Next would be to join the SCO, invite Russia as a defence partner against western war-mongering,forbid foreign propaganda tabloids and install a whole battery of s-300´s as a preventive measure against NATO."

Hahaha! The radicals' dream. How would Russia help you? You are LANDLOCKED and surrounded by NATO countries. Even Crna Gora has had enough of Russians

Serbia is the only partner in this project that isn't an EU member. Very significant. This will bring Serbia closer to the EU, whether the people eventually want to become an EU member or not. All involved (within DS and DSS) deserve praise for their diplomatic effort in bringing this project to Serbia. It will help the economic development of Serbia and the entire Ex Yugoslavia region (I believe that one branch will end up goung through Srpska and Croatia to Italy).

I guess many opponents of Serbia are unwilling the South Stream to cross the country because :

1.They are following the US instructions to minimize the Russian influence

2.The pipe ties Serbia and Russia rejecting Western domination

3.They realize that the pipe will reinforce Serbia not only economically

4.The West will depend on Serbia too much to press it so shameless

5.It buries the crazy NABUCCO fairy tale and turning it to anecdote

6.The two Streams minimize the weight of the US puppets in EU

7.The two Streams give more chance for EU to compete US politically and economically

8.The Streams make Russia almost invincible economically

Cheers !

well, to be frank, while the pipelines would provide revenue for Serbia, they are physically such a blight on the landscape. But if the economy needs it, then go ahead.
