The violence and repression against the lgbt people (not to mention many other groups, say -- journalists!!) is really unconscionable, even in RUSSIA, czarist, commie, whatever.

it's not about what is or is not acceptable in frisco. throughout the civilized world, human rights are not considered some kind of dirty joke (wink wink) and are actually taken seriously.

but in dear russia, it is suddenly all about "family values" (read: violence against minorities and all who in any way are perceived to "threaten" traditional values.)

fortunately russia will never need to qualify for the eu. or the un, apparently, which actually is supposed to be all about protecting human rights. at least that's what eleanor roosevelt thought and gave much of her life's work
to accomplish.

sometimes when you read comments here it is quite unclear which century they are written in.

Your problem is that you are trying to be political correct in everything. Don’t be so American. This rule ( like many others ) must have exclusions. They are a real threat to the whole mankind and we are to be united to stop this aggressive minority with complex of inferiority PRed as Pride Parade. What are they being proud of ?

Russia is good in stopping this vakhanalia. So all those provocations are inspired from the West to spoil the Intervision forum.

De Toppers would have boycotted the final.Well guys first of all you should have performed something.Even in such a music event full of politically correct songs and performers you maneged to underperform everyone with that childish text not too mention your totally false voice.Maybe your performance is suitable for some Amsterdam gay clubbs but in most parts of the world you are simply ridiculous.Your music could be categorized as slobber collage music.

Pretty much populistic words.

1) The marriage act before the ЗАГС representative is the primary act. Before the priest it's not obligatory at all. Once saying "yes" before the representative of the State the marriage becomes official. The position of the State should be 100% neutral regarding that, regardless, what country it is.

2) There are things which are sensitive to avoid. Budapest, Moscow, Belgrade or Pristina just won't become San Francisco overnight. It is probably a very backwards thing and we are less progressive than we should be and we can't just jump over our shadow. No need to blame the orthodoxy - ask numerous followers of Lamaist (Far East, Buryatia), Muslim or Jewish religions or even atheists. You will get the same answer.

And all that I would consider a very mild stance compared with Argentina.

I admit, I am 100% wrong and I admit, I continue to be politically incorrect and backwards-thinking regarding such things, even after 15 years living near San Francisco.

With all sympathy and with all understanding regarding the difficult life of gays in East Europe I just can't produce enough empathy.

If I would say "yes, let's make the gay parade" - it would be a lie. The sad truth, I would be tempted to pack everyone of my family in the car and drive far away on that day from the event. Everyone has limits... :(
