All of this talk about who will have the best out of the visit is hogwash. Listen to the rhectoric one poster spells Clinton with a K and what other garbage that is raised in the discussion. the visit of VP Biden is not going to change nothing.

Why would the Serbs even want to talk to the man?will tadic be taking Biden on a tour of Belgrade to see the damage those NATO thugs did?

svojgazda

All I can say about Biden's visit is, Serbian citizens should block the road from the airport to Belgrade. Never let him into Belgrade. This man is not a friend of the Serbian people. It would be like Ahmedinajad going on a goodwill mission to Israel.

What if Biden showed up and nobody came?

Let us see how much cooperation these Americans are going to be offering when they are brought to justice for their crimes against humanity. You know, TORTURE ! The proof of the depravity Obama is now suppressing.

How many times must the ALbanians be told? This is not about you or the Serbs for that fact. This whole experiment is a geopolitical initiative to encircle and humiliate Russia. The problem now is that NATO can't go any further than it has. Their proxy in Georgia got a back-hander last August and now two provinces within Georgia (Abkhazia and South Ossetia) are under Russian control. Shaakashvili will be gone by the end of the year and probably a more friendly Russian government will come to power. Ukraine cannot join NATo or it will cease to exist. Bulgaria and ROmania are already in NATO but they will change depending on which way the wind is blowing.
This leaves poor little Kosovo with absolutely nothing to offer the US. In fact it is the unwanted baby at the door step now. Biden's visit is more for show but the stakes are no longer that high in the region. Despite what many of the Serb posters claim, Belgrade has temporarily let go of Kosovo. It is now a European problem and if the ALbanians think they are going to be part of some flourishing state with a booming economy and a huge army you are truly deluded. Your future lays in drugs, prostitution and scrap metal and ALbanian girls being raped by US soldiers. You will be ruled by local thugs who care very little for the future of Albanians and whatever happens to Kosovo will be determined by what happens in Moscow, Beijing, New Dehli and less importantly by Washington. Please look around- the horse you bet on doesn't have the best odds anymore. Either a European Serbia is your future or poverty, hatred, clan and drug violence are.

"It's time, it's time the blackbirds be put to rest. It's time they look in their souls."
(Danny, 15 May 2009 19:21)

Speaks volumes about the American "sensitivity". That sentence - unwillingly - is very offensive to both Serbs and Albanians from Kosovo.

Because it means: "Kosovars should die". Just think a bit: "blackbirds be put to rest".

"Kos" = "blackbird"
"Kosovo" = (of)blackbirds.

Mr. Smith

Biden should be tried for defamation of the Serbian people.

As political agendas change so frequently the Serbs should hear what he has to say, but it should be done outside of Serbia. He has called Serbs thugs among much other damage - he should NEVER be allowed in Serbia unless he goes on CNN and apologizes.

The Serbs fall for trickery every single time ... so I dont' see how they won't this time.

Biden is one of the reasons that Serbia was bombed illegaly for 78 days (a war crime), and he is also one of the reasons the US pushed many of its minions to recognize the fake, illegal, and immoral 'state' of Kosovo.
He has taken lots of money from albanian lobbyists, and is Serbia's number one enemy. To let this man into Belgrade where he can smile and shake hands with the Serbian president Tadic, is pure humiliation. Tadic is definitely a masochist, he loves getting abused and raped by his western buddies, while maintaining a smile on his face, like a good obedient wife that gets beaten regularly.
Biden should be declared persona non grata, and never allowed to visit Serbia. He can, in this particular time, visit the illegally occupied part of Serbia, but that will also change in the coming years.

Zoran

pre 14 godina

Although the Albanians will cheer Biden and treat him as a hero, if Obama is the pragmatist he claims to be I suspect Biden's message may not be as promising as the Albanians may want.

It is becoming ever more evident the Western sponsors of both Kosovo and BiH are flushing scarce funds down a black hole. They are beginning to realise the importance of Serbian co-operation and without us they will continue to waste good money on misguided adventures.

I suspect he will calm down on the independence rhetoric and start talking about regional co-operation. That will ultimately mean showing more respect to Serbia and eventually giving up on "Kosova". It won't happen overnight but it will happen.

This is the man who was boasting around how successful he was

This is the man who speaks about border non-importance once we are in EU
while at the same time Croatia disputes with Slovenia over few km’s of sea border. Instead of keeping low profile he goes around and keep lectures on democracy. It would be really funny if it wasn't actually sad.

I can't believe that he would visit Kosovo first and then Serbia. What idiot thought up that scheme?!

At a time when the US wants to improve relations with Serbia and the Serbs, it seems absolutely foolish to go to Kosovo, start praising independence and then have to go to Belgrade where these comments will have been widely reported and will necessarily affect the tone of the visit.

Far better to visit Belgrade first, get that over with and then go to Kosovo, where he can make all his pro-UDI statements before heading back to Washington without having to then face Serb leaders.

If this schedule is true, it once again looks like US officials are determined to keep relations between Serbia on as strained a footing as possible. So much for trying to create a new era in ties.

Speaks volumes about the American "sensitivity". That sentence - unwillingly - is very offensive to both Serbs and Albanians from Kosovo.

Because it means: "Kosovars should die". Just think a bit: "blackbirds be put to rest".

"Kos" = "blackbird"
"Kosovo" = (of)blackbirds.

Mr. Biden was never a lobbyist for nothing but for the good of the *US*. Peace, stability and prosperity for all nations of the Balkans can only be achieved with self-determinating, democratic nations committed to peace. This includes an independent Kosovo respecting Serb heritage. That's what the USA stands for. This vizit is demonstrating the US support and friendship with Serbia.

In two of former President Bill Clinton’s administrations, Biden was one of the main supporters of American military intervention during the wars in the former Yugoslavia and a leading lobbyist for Kosovo independence.
Isn't he gonna meet Jeremic as well, I read somewhere that he wont be meeting him.Jeremic should be ashamed, even in Washington Hillary ignored him, she didn't want to meet him.Remember, Kosovars were among the first world leaders to be invited to the White House by Secretary of State. We Kosovars were thinking that we were a part of Albania for decades but it never happened, all we got is we were tortured beaten and killed. You serb comentators here are lucky, you can think that Kosova is a part of Serbia as long as you want for decades to come. All I know is we are recognized by 60 countries, I am travelling with a passport written: Kosova, we have our own police, own government and a security forces trained and equiped by the strongest alliance "NATO".

Unfortunately, Biden is not going anywhere just yet. It is very tempting to block him completely because of his outrageous, ignorant and offensive comments about Serbs on CNN, but it is better to just deal with him in a straightforward and professional manner.

I hope that no ground whatsoever is given on Kosovo. There have to be proper negotiations to settle status properly.

In order to improve Serbias relationship with USA and receive finacial help and support, Serbia must recognize Kosovo as an independent state.

“Biden will be the most senior U.S. official to visit Serbia in last 30 years.”

Both Klinton and Bush were in Kosovo, so this line clearly shows that de facto Kosovo gained its independence since 1999, and now Biden is comming to open the eyes to some people in the Balkans, concretely in Serbia.

MikeC

pre 14 godina

Who cares if Jeremic will meet Biden, Hillary or Monica Lewinsky! Albanians sound like little kids "I got a bigger icecream than you, ha"! America is not a friend of Serbia. We have our friends in 140 countries that are yet to recognize Kosovo, howerver it's the Americans who wish better relations with Serbia. That's one of the reasons they are building the biggest American embassy in the Balkans in Belgrade. Albanians also seem to think that America and everybody else just loooove Kosovo. Why? You have NOTHING to offer the world except for crime and refugees! If it was not for our monasteries and churches in Kosovo I would let the Albanians have that hell hole! Build a wall around it and live a peacfull life without having anything to do with albanians.

Jim

pre 14 godina

It doesn`t matter what Biden thinks and says, what his schedule is,the most important thing is that Kosovo de jure is still part of Serbia and that will not change because of the staunch support of China and Russia and their veto.
I see this as a desperate act,Americans know they have messed up this issue, they could have had Russian support on this till 2002 when Russia was still too weak, now it is over.
The most intelligent way for us is to get our own house in order, strenghten the economy and the military and prepare for the moment of opprtunity that will come.
America inevitably faces demise, the opportunity to reoccupy our southern province will come,it will fall us in the hand like a rotten apple from the tree.
Be patient and don`t give away one milimetre of Serbian territory,no partition.

I'm one of many who don't agree with you. You need to take a look at Americas economy to realize that the US can't even support itself much less anyone else. Besides, Serbia is not a wellfare case like Kosovo. We don't need Americas money. However, the US should pay Serbia for the damage it caused during the bombing of Serbia. Serbia is self-sufficient. Kosovo is not.

Zoran

pre 14 godina

Dragan

pre 14 godina

This is the man who was boasting around how successful he was

This is the man who speaks about border non-importance once we are in EU

I can not believe Serbians still today blame everybody else for everything that happened in their own sole!! Its called living in denial. All I can say to you guys Serbia need US more than US needs Serbia (for obvious reasons). Moreover, US may be experiencing economic problems currently but you can multiply it by a ratio of 5 to the Serbian economy (one of the poorest countries in Europe, you are basically bankrupt, begging to IMF!!). I hope one day though younger generations are going to think differently and distance themselves from their dark times (recent ones).

"That until the Serbian people look themselves in the face, understand, understand what their leaders have done and convinced them of, until that moment arrives the Serbian people will not, will not be able to shed this notion of victimization that all of their leaders prey upon and manipulate them with ... until they look in their hearts they can never cure themselves of the disease that they are the oppressed. ... The US with its economic mess back home and ever growing national debt (which it will have difficulty repaying now that other countries are talking openly about dumping the greenback), is in no position to offer any economic incentives to the Balkans.

Talk is cheap however. Biden will come to the Balkans and do America's second most favorite pastime -- lecturing at others in terms of "do as I say but don't do as I do".

The first and foremost favorite pastime of course remains creating aggression and trouble overseas.

Foxx, you sound like a recording of a politician and are regurgitating what you have been fed by Western government and media.

If we were so committed to peace and humanitarianism then we would not have bombed civilian targets in Serbia -- acutally we wouldn't have bombed Serbia in the first place, a nation that was our ally in 2 world wars. If we cherished human life then we would have done something to help the people in Rwanda who were being slaughtered in real genocide. Where was NATO then??

When you and others wake up and learn to think for yourselves, you will realize that our foreign policy in the Balkans in *not* what the US is supposed to stand for, but we say one thing and do another in the name of conquest and imperialism.

I expect to see 1 million Serbs in the streets protesting biden. Block the roads from the airport to force him to stay at the airport - he probably won't helicopter into Beograd. As political agendas change so frequently the Serbs should hear what he has to say, but it should be done outside of Serbia. He has called Serbs thugs among much other damage - he should NEVER be allowed in Serbia unless he goes on CNN and apologizes.
