Whatever happened to "once in the EU, borders won't matter"????

I fully agree! But same goes for Kosovo. Let Serbia join EU with Kosovo. Then there is no need for Kosovo state, I guess?!

On this one: in my opinion Croatia is right. Let international law has its course. Slovenia probably knows it is wrong!

I do not understand why Croatia is making such a big fuss about it now, somehow rejecting Renn's proposal is a big deal when Slovenia does it but when Croatia rejected it several times before it was all normal and it was clear from before that Croatia is not keen on compromises which it should be in this matter.

I do not know all the fact but I can say that I don't like the media campagin and political responses from Croatia. Don't strike me as diplomatic at all.

Sure the Slovenians can have the Italian section of the sea to the open waters and some of the land to. Since the EU big heads say their are no borders ,while at it claim all of it. Or did Slovenia skip classes when the EU school was in session or are they just dumb. The EU should have a multi bilion euro commission to figure this one out and to stimulate the EU economies.

"The Slovenian side responded, stating that Croatia must be more constructive if it wishes to become a member of the EU" - what Slovenia is really saying is that it could give a rat's about international law, because if it took that route, they wouldn't have a case, hence they're trying to bully another state into submission. Thankfully, even the normally intra-EU supportive beaurucrats are getting fed up with the miniscule nature of this issue, that's consuming inordinate amounts of time thanks to Slovenia. I am certain it will come back to bite them.

Slovenians are the kings of blackmail. Croatia, a non-EU member, is acutally following international law. Slovenia, an EU member, does not want to be an exception to the rule. Slovenia will block EU access talks for Croatia over this in an attempt to put pressure on the Croats to give up a good portion of their sea to Slovenia. These unethical acts by Slovenia should not be tolderated by the rest of the EU, and it will be interesting to see what happens now that Slovenia is rejecting Oli Rehn's solution.

I love how easy it is to dictate giving up land that isn't yours... but when it comes to a sliver of your own land, there's huge issues.
