If it's so why the hell EU and USA take a pressure on Serbia to have more "constructive" attitude about illegal state of Kosovo.

Obviously the game is not over yet!

The solution is not right. Considering the amount of the displaced persons on both sides, for every 5 rebuilding Albanian houses they must allow to rebuild 100 Serbian ones.

You conveniently forgot that Eulex is operating under UNSC resolution 1244. You can easily go to the Eulex website to verify this.

This is brilliant! Serbs coming out of their comfort zone in northern Kosovo and building houses in the South. And so the slow dispersion of the few thousand remaining Serbs begins. You disperse yourselves, you get lost in that ocean of Albanians. Great plan by Kosovo's government! Very smooth indeed good sirs. You have learned well :)

these were bought by the Serbian government a while back when the Albanians thought they would not come back. There were no serbs living there.

The state is building them for serbs and they will sell them soon to the Albanians ripping off the serbian state--once again! I hope they got permission from the RIGHT authorities to build new houses, otherwise...

"No Dimtuc, It was about the International Community honouring commitments, it was about the Serbian population being denied their right to rebuild"

No, that's exactly what it was not about, because no-one was denying the Serb population the right to rebuild. If that were the "reason" for the demonstrations, then the demonstrations were about nothing.

Incidentally, I'm not denying there is an element of legitimate fear among K Serbs that may be expressed in nervousness about Albanians rebuilding in the north, due to what many Serbs have suffered since 1999. I'm not oblivious to that. The question is what to do and what not to do about it. Trying to violently block Albanian return - rather than attempt to do the same as them from the start - was exactly the wrong way of going about it, and I certainly hope it doesn't encourage any Albanian hotheads elsewhere in Kosovo around Serb returnees, encouraged by these 10 or so Serb hotheads that irresponsibly played on the fears of their compatriots the last few weeks. Altogether a shameful episode.

'at least another 4 years to get the required amount of countries of the UN...'

It took about that long for the international community to get around to deciding that that the Kosovars were serious about wanting a final decision on status, right? (1999-2004) And then more years decide to accept their preferred solution.

This is absolutely brilliant news.
Serbs have started rebuilding and there are no protests from Albanians, .. wow.

What's EULEX's next trick?
Not to protect in future newly build Serbian houses from Albanian vandalism (but to persecute vice- versa)?
To forbid rebuilding of the Serbian property because "Albanians don't have to agree" with any rules?

Just to add how much admiration Kosovo Serbs deserve for their preserverance, resillience and vigor in the face of circumstances where they are treated much worse than underdogs. The world is watching you and sending strength to go on with fighting for your rights.

All this for building Serbian homes in NORTHERN Kosovo. Something tells me this should have been a non-starter from the beginning. Had the article indicated that the first 5 Serbian houses are being built in southern Mitrovica, or anywhere else south, I might have thought it a bit more noteworthy. But northern Kosovo? That's de facto Serbian territory anyway.

Mr. David J. Jones,

I really don’t believe that Serbs were being denied the right to rebuild, but since Albanians started reconstruction they started protesting and subsequently invented this “reciprocity” thing as an excuse to their protests. So, as a result they are reconstructing only because they “ate the bait” and this goes very much into Kosovo Government favors, because that’s what they want to achieve, return all IDPs to their property.

In regards to recognition process, I think it is an unstoppable process, what you yourself also seem to understand, quote: “Incidentally I noticed only 5 countries have recognised the Illegal UDI this year. So IMF is OK but at this rate it will take at least another 4 years to get the required amount of countries of the UN”. No one, knows for sure how long it will take for Kosovo to become a UN member, maybe 1 year, maybe 4 or maybe even longer, but it is important that Kosovo is moving in that direction. Knowing that 96 countries have voted in Kosovo’s favor for IMF membership and that under the name “The Republic of Kosovo” is a very important thing in this regard.

I think that looks very good - 4 years will go by very quickly. Nobody expected this to happen overnight. It takes decades to build a country.

No Dimtuc, It was about the International Community honouring commitments, it was about the Serbian population being denied their right to rebuild, it was about the right of Serbians being allowed to live with KOSOVO Albanians in their own province.
You see the vast majority don't mind living in harmony with Albanians as long as the Province as is legally recognised by the worlds majority is not forced down their throats as somrthing it is NOT. Independent!

Incidentally I noticed only 5 countries have recognised the Illegal UDI this year. So IMF is OK but at this rate it will take at least another 4 years to get the required amount of countries of the UN. Doesn't look good does it?

Albanians should protest now since Serbs are building house in a corner of the village where they never had houses. But Albanians are too harmless, too kind, they cannot defend something that sounds illogical.

DimTuc

Albanians rebuild their houses, so serbs do the same. What a brilliant idea. Like duh. In other words, the two weeks of "demonstrations" (ie, attempts to forcibly obstruct Albanians from rebuilding their own homes) were all just a silly show, right? It wasn't really an issue of bare survival for the Serbs threatened with "extermination" as we read here in comments.
