'Every K-Albanian was behind him while Rugova patiently waited for discussions. KLA surfaced 10 years after Rugova’s passive resistance.'

The international community bears much of the responsibility here. Rugova traveled the world, asking for support - diplomatic, not warplanes - for Kosovo's AUTONOMY, and was praised for his non-violent stance, and ignored. The Americans wanted the Europeans to handle it, the Europeans didn't want to do more than hold talks, and Milosevic was willing to do whatever it took to gain and hold onto power. Everybody just waited too long, until there were no good options left.

To BH_NYC,
My dear chap,
When you can not find the arguments then you pull the usual "Oh why we always talk about past" rabbit. Also, never believe a man who says "believe me".
Americans and Russians know very well who built the first church and how many Turks were killed. It is only you who naively think otherwise. They have agenda behind all their moves and thats that. The question is only what is exactly behind their agenda in regards to Kosovo...

I don’t understand why so many of you feel the need to discuss what happened centuries ago, before WW2, during WW2 and so on. Neither of us can convince each other to accept guilt, it all depends on who wrote the history books you're getting your information from. And believe me, neither the Americans nor the Russians are interested to know who built the first church and who killed more Turks. These talks could last forever if anyone tried to convince you. We can’t even agree on what happened during our last war only 10 years ago. As for ‘sitting down and discussing things’. Remember Rugova? Every K-Albanian was behind him while Rugova patiently waited for discussions. KLA surfaced 10 years after Rugova’s passive resistance. So much blood has been shed and some of you are still keen to send in the army and televise the war as some kind of entertainment.

To DimTuc,
The answer to your question is that yes Tito was right to give more powers to the regions for them to manage themselves but the problem was he did not go to the core of the problem.
So, what was the problem? There were many, firstly how to integrate Albanians into society, then how to empower them to manage themselves but not abusing the same and in the process abusing the other ethnic groups. You would agree that the Ustav of 1974 did not succed in resolving this fundamentall issue. For democracy to work you need to educate the people. Unfortunately the profile of Albanian population in Kosovo was not on the level to say the least. Secondly we must not disregard the ancient animosities that exist between us that Tito or any other politician did not dare to touch. But they are there and you have to account for them when you think of final solution. Thirdly, he made many mistakes, like for example after the second World War he issued a law in 1947/8 that forbade all families that left Kosovo during the war to return. The question is why and how much did it alter the ethnic balance? We can go on and on....
As for Serbian nationalism and Tito you just scratced the surface mate. Of all former Yu republics Serbia and Bosnia were most pro Yu and that was reflected in the population cenzuses where large amount of people would pronounce themselves (proudly) Jugoslavian's. On the other hand Croatians were planning the future state in emigration and Slovenes, well they were always Slovenes. As for you Albanians, you did not finish the Second World War untill 1948 when the last Ballista fighting group was caught and anihilated in Kacak Gourge. After that you just continued with low level of civil disobedience, not paying the taxes randomly attacking the cops on the bit, harrasing other ethnic groups close by into leaving etc etc. So as you can see there is much much more than the easy "you are guilty and thats it" accussations you Albanians are spewing forth.
We need to sit down and discuss this things and solve OUR problem once and for all. Everything else is just empty rhetoric and will get you and us into even bigger mess.

This sabotage of Serbs, supported by the Serbian Government is soooo ridiculous.

Those poor manipulated people were not arrested because they protested, but because they attacked the police, causing to one of the policeman life-threatening injuries.

Now, Kosovo police would never dare to torture a Serb. Everybody (Internationals) who have worked with Kosovo police know this.

A Kosovo policeman understands what it means to torture a person of the minority group in Kosovo, as a difference to Serbian police.

"Hey, TITO, what do you think of Serbia's treatment of your widow - 30 years of house arrest? In some places justice is especially slow, it seems.
(Amer, 14 May 2009 15:17)"

Exactly!

And I have a couple more questions for "TITO".

Do you still think you were right to give the high level autonomy status to Kosova, together with direct representation in Yugoslav federal bodies (not through Serbia)?

Do you still believe as you always did that keeping a lid on Serbian nationalism - ie the nationalism of the dominant ethnic group in Yugoslavia - was THE necessary ingredient of keeping the federation together?

And finally what do you think of your son having been Croatia's ambassador to Indonesia (recently retired)?

Denis

Stop with the provokations and torture. Accept reality and grow up. Learn to live with your fellow Serbian citizens and negotiate peace. And finally, stop living in your selective and distorted past.

If you believe NATO truly defeated Serbia then why did they agree to UN resolution 1244. Serbia was not defeated, 1244 exists and Kosovo is not and will never become independent. Just remember that Serbia was occupied by the NAZIs at one stage but who would call that a defeat? Now go and negotiate before it's too late.
(Zoran, 13 May 2009 18:36)

Accept reality?? 85% of EU countries have recognized Kosovo, around the world countries that make up 80% of the world GDP have as well, and more are to come, and you are telling me to "accept the reality"?
There will be no more negotiation, never. And if Rusia and China will block our UN membership, we will still take our chances and never ever live under Serbia again. Kosovo's success is not dependent at all from the UN membership, Taiwan is the best example of that.

The Serbian Government should publicly push for braking up of Kosovo into Serbian and Albanian parts and population and land exchange.
There is not going to be lasting peace untill we completely separate from each other and both agree on final borders.
Then we should do what the Israelis are doing in their country and build a massive wall with a barbed wire to stop any future Albanian intrusion into our land under false pretence of economic hardship migration.

WOW, this must be interesting news. 5 People were charged to 30 days house arrest. And they say "Serbs accuse Kosovo police of torture", you call this torture. Do you guys remember demostrations back in 80's - 90's, when the Albanins were tortured from Serbian police, back then they weren't charged on house arrest they were arrested and brutally beaten by police. I Was in 1989 on demostration, almost got a baton on my back, if the police hit me with a baton, probably I still would feel the pain. Go guys on youtube you should watch this tortures from Serbian police, about this 5 people on house arrest must be a joke.

'which country offers free electricity for 10 years and not do anything about it?' .

First of all Kosovo is not a country, it's a province. Secondly the infrastructure belongs to Serbia, so the Serbs deserve free electricity until the K-Alb Rebels are imprisoned.

Thirdly the civilians were beaten before they went to court, not after it, prejudice there.

No one is talking about brotherhood and unity here but you have to admit that Kosovo is a long way from stability and independence. The West has only created a bigger mess than already existed... which isn't that surprising really.

Kosovo cannot and will never achieve independence. It's time to accept that reality and time to negotiate on status based on more than autonomy, less than independence. Please don't tell me we have to wait another 15 years before that reality sinks in? You simply cannot get past the Russian and Chinese veto. To DimTuc,
The answer to your question is that yes Tito was right to give more powers to the regions for them to manage themselves but the problem was he did not go to the core of the problem.

They are detained for 24 hours, charged and then appear before a court.

You cannot change the Serbian constitution or expect Serbians to hand over a part of our soul to a bunch of citizens waving the flag of another nation.

Stop with the provokations and torture. Accept reality and grow up. Learn to live with your fellow Serbian citizens and negotiate peace. And finally, stop living in your selective and distorted past.
