Ministry: Political pressure on Serbs

The power cuts and the restoration of Albanian houses in Brđani are forms of political pressure on the Serbs, Kosovo Ministry official Oliver Ivanović told B92.

He will say that anyway as long as north stay split from the rest of Kosova.

EA, why not? Albanians have split from the rest of Serbia too and that didn't bother you one bit.

Now, if you don't own a Kosovo passport, perhaps you could google a phonto of one and you will see that even your own "government" calls it KosovO. Why then do you refer to is as Kosova?

“The power cuts and the restoration of Albanian houses in Brđani are forms of political pressure on the Serbs, Kosovo Ministry official Oliver Ivanović told B92”

AND

“Ivanović said that the Kosovo Serbs had to pay their bills, as the Serbian government could not offer them an alternative for supplying electricity. “We tried to explain that the ministry cannot help on the issue of electricity any more than it has done up to now … even that has to go via KEK representatives, as it needs to somehow get to the people in the enclaves,“ the state secretary explained.”

Doesn’t Ivanovic think that even the laziest reader can see the blatant contradiction between these two points.

It is quite a pity that someone who long appeared one of the more logical leaders of the K Serbs has retreated to simple demagoguery.

Why don't KEK allow a Serbia “company” (not government) to put power into the Kosovo grid, together with a fair market rate (and penalties for failure) for the infrastructure used? Then the Serbian company can bill the Serbs. Everyone is happy - KEK get market rates for the use of the grid, they get the power in their grid and the Serbs deal with a Serbian company.

Oh wait, you can't do that - because it is POLITICAL! On both sides. Kosovo wants to demonstrate they are in control and Serbs don’t want to acknowledge the UDI. That is was it is all about.

It amazes me the sheer contempt that Albanians display here whilst proclaiming it is the land of tolerance and freedom. They should stop for a minute and think of their rhetoric like "criminal" or "if they don't like it then they should go elsewhere". The exact same rhetoric that they were subjected to 10 years ago.

(Ivanovic) said that the privatization of the Kosovo Electricity Corporation (KEK) was one of the causes of the clashes, as it had not merely been a case of selling thermal power plants and power distribution, but also a DATABASE. And, as no such base existed, there was an insistence on completing it with Serbs, who, hitherto, had not signed up....

The collecting of the DATABASE on Serbs in Kosovo is really what KEK and Thaci's "government" is interested in. If it was just a matter of "payment" of electricity usage, then why wasn't power cut off to the non-paying Albanians? With the unemployment rate in Kosovo over 50%, and most people still way below the poverty level, it seems strange that only Serb's electricity is being cut off. These are outright provocations- not towards peace or multi-ethnic cooperation- but rather towards attempting to solidify the K-Albs illegal UDI. Samo Sloga Srbina Spasava.

"Whoever tried to take over the north would be pulling the trigger."
PZ

The albanians already pulled the trigger by declaring independence and thereby trying to steal territory that belongs to the Serbian people. If Serbs don't fight for the North and enclaves with serbs in them, albanians will run them over as well. Europe and the US is tired of this conflict and will sooner or later turn their backs to albanian demands. Serbs should have fought this battle 30 years ago.

The war is over Mr. And Fortunately Serbia lost it, we returned home. We're alive because of physical power against Serbia and the idea you obviously still stick to.

The serb extremists are putting a strong front but KEK is putting an even stronger one. As day by day passes KEK is not in the dark, KEK is not the one getting arrested or teargased.

Mr. Ivanovic, with this kind of rhetoric I believe you should be booked a place in jail. Trying to scare somebody or what??

Of course the ultimatum was delivered, by Thaci himself. Yes! We Serbs are so afraid of Albanians. You hide behind NATO and make treats.

If these serbs have not payed their electricity bills because they simply could not afford to, then I would sympathize with them.

However, they have chosen not to pay, firstly because they have been getting free electricity for 10 years, and secondly because they are letting Belgrade use them as pawns to make a political point.

KEK is not asking for electicity payment for usage since 1999, or even beginning of 2009. They are only asking for a lump sum for last month and any future payment. 28 euros, after 10 years! Thats more than fair. You wouldn't get that kind of offer anywhere else in the world.

Many serbs in Serbia would wish they had received a deal like that from the serbian power company.

If these serbs want a serbian power company or whatever, they should go and protest in Belgrade and block the roads there, and ask the serbian goverment to provide them with free electricity.
