Serbia to receive EUR 100mn from EC

Serbia will receive budgetary assistance of EUR 100mn from the European Commission (EC), says Deputy Prime Minister Božidar Đelić.

Read the report carefully. This aid comes with onerous strings attached -- Belgrade is required to make the economic adjustments that will bind its economy ever more closely to the EU's structure. And thereby making it all but impossible in the future for Belgrade to make economic decisions for Serbia independent of EU's interference. Is 100 million euros a worthwhile price for economic subservience? I have my doubts but this is something the Serbians will have to decide for themselves.

And here again, the so much despised (by the majority of Serbian posters, not all) European Union is going to give Serbia another 100 million euros!
