NATO: Kosovo situation is stable

According to NATO, the situation in Kosovo is, on the whole, stable, though some regions, especially the north, are very fragile.

Note:

WIthout 1244 Serbia has the right of re-entry to Kosovo and NATO has no right to be there.

It is the legal basis for the current situation.

The UDI does not constitute a settlement in the terms described in 1244 - so leaving the UDI as a temporary institution.

"Again: remember 1244: Kosovo is a Serbian province!"

Actually, as an Albanian I want you to think about 1244. Why you say? Because it makes you inactive since with that piece of paper 1244 on your side you get a warm feeling of security. However, that warm feeling of security is false. If 1244 mattered, none of us would be writing comments daily on B92 :)

The myth that Kosovo UDI would not set precedent is completely destroyed. A large element of the break-down of relations with Russia and in particular the Russian intervention in Georgia can be directly attributed to NATOs misplaced policy regarding Kosovo.

NATO started with a humanitarian justification in Kosovo but abused its power in being instrumental in causing the unnecessary UDI and deliberately abusing the UN by making a lie of 1244.

NATO will will never again be easily trusted when it claims 'humanitarian intervention' again. Further it is likely that the relationship with Russia will never improve while NATO persists with the current attitudes regarding expansion, regarding missile defence and in particular regarding Kosovo. You cannot blame Russia for reacting adversly.

The western press have not recently had cause to review the NATO administration - however, I believe that it is very likely that something will emerge that will lead the western press to heavily castigate the current set of policies and politicians.

The view that the cold-war has restarted is interesting (and very dangerous) - and it is directly attributable to NATOs misplaced policy in Kosovo. Perhaps the western press ought to review that little thought!

So this Admiral from NATO says that Kosovo is 'stable' and 'very fragile' in the one sentence.
I suppose his ship is anchored off the coast of Kosovo, so he'd surely know.

“We are satisfied with this and we hope that these forces will be an element of stability,” Di Paola said."

Peoples who destroyed serbian national heritage in Kosovo will be send according to Thaci for "cover" this heritage. This is not element of stability. Ex UCK-members can't cover of Visoki Decani or Gracanica Monastery.

The North is the only problematic area, but I am glad these forces are ready just in case things flare up more there. Thanks to Nato

NATO must show itself to be a true defender of international law. Thus doing everything to make sure that Kosovo is and will be part of Serbia.

Remember 1244!
