Ian UK, you will try to discredit just about anybody who dares to point a finger at your beloved Albanians.

I wonder, if this paper was to expose Serbian corruption, would you agree with it or try to discredit it.

I can safely guess that you would agree with it and congratulte them for mentioning the pricess as well.

There's a saying in my country about Imams: "Do what I tell you, but don't do what I do".

This is what the UN has been doing all this time in Kosova. Now it has come to an end, and half of the UN staff (500 personnel) will leave Kosova in the months to come. And guess why? Because their predecessors have stolen the money and there's nothing left for them (the actual staff).

Greets from Prishtina!

From the article (capitals my emphasis):

"The information was collected by the UN-led Investigation Task Force, whose members included OFFICIALS FROM THE EU's ANTI-FRAUD OFFICE, OLAF."

Geddit? OLAF is not 'scandinavian' or belongs to the UN, but OLAF is an acronym for 'European Anti-Fraud Office':
http://ec.europa.eu/anti_fraud/index_en.html

They actually do quite good work, as does the European Court of Auditors who have not 'signed off' on the EC budget for XX years:
http://europa.eu/institutions/inst/auditors/index_en.htm

That EU funds to Kosovo have disappeared is no surprise. At least 1bEU have disappeared in Bosnia's (i.e. the Bosniak-Croat Federation) since Dayton, but that is the price for 'maintaining the peace'.

Systematic and widespread corruption in both Bulgaria and Romania were no hindrance to their entry into the EU despite Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) being a significant chapter (of the aquis communautaire) in the accession process, but it was a political decision to let them in.

This it the EU that 'Serbia wants to join'. It preaches 'rule of law' to candidate countries but is happy to go to war without UN resolutions, it will ignore its own entry criteria because certain candidate countries are supported by powerful EU states, there is deep rooted corruption already within its institution and member states, the latter being those that ignore EC directives.

On the plus side, if you join they will throw money at you for years unless you are hopelessly corrupt (structural funds to both Bg and Ro have been significantly reduced).

In that sense, Kosovo is a perfect fit, regardless if the thieves are EU administrators or the handful of Kosovo clans that 'run' (LOL!) the territory. Just pigs at the trough.

Ian,

From reading your recent posts I would say you are a regular reader of the S*n newspaper.
By no means am I a royalist but to bring Princess Diana into this just shows your level of compassion.

You are getting all excited over nothing, EU will stop funding UN, that's all. Notice how UN personnel is accused of stealing while they ran the show:

"In a letter to the Commission of 4 March, Lamberto Zannier, head of the UN mission in Kosovo (Unmik), admitted that the UN had not taken action against international staff suspected of involvement in criminal activities while working on programmes in Kosovo, which was under UN administration in 1999-2008."

To Serbs, did you figure out who stole your "Kosovo funds" yet ?

Mike

"The daily states that, after the province’s unilateral declaration of independence last year, UN officials concluded that they had "no means any more to monitor any of those follow-up activities.""

-- Yes, God forbid the witch doctors that gave life to this zombie should be indicted for doing something unethnical.

Still, I had to chuckle that the UN-appointed task force to oversee the oversight has, not surprisingly, a Scandinavian name OLAF.

Leave it to the Scandinavians to be appointed to put out the fires in the Balkans.

"I'm from the government and I'm here to help you" is an old American joke, and the UN is even worse in terms of inefficiency, and the corruption is no secret. (Because there are no political parties to
'throw the bums out' periodically, I suppose.)

Kosovars will know better than I do, but I've heard that the press there has been reporting on UN corruption in the country for years. In vain, since their government had no control over UN employees. They couldn't even give them parking tickets.

The UN-appointed German head of KEK is serving 3.5 years, the Daily Telegraph article says, for corruption. This may help explain 10 years of unpaid electric bills all over the country.

One wonders why there are to date no K-albanian posters protesting about the missing millions?

After all, it is mostly their population who will suffer because of this - both by not being able to make of use of the embezzled funds, & by the concern this will course future funding to be lost.

Ian, UK:
Think it is more of a case of denial with you than disbelief. Is easy enough to check for other sources apart from the "Daily Telegraph".

Or even 'balkaninsight': http://www.balkaninsight.com/en/main/news/18725/

Would've thought a UK taxpayer (pay taxes?) would be up in arms over the wastage of their hard-earned pounds - especially in this times in the UK.

For those who want to read "Corruption & Organized Crime" news, there is plenty information in "Corruption & organized crime" section of this Web Site.

Here are some most recent headlines that highlight the state of affairs in Serbia related to this.
Have a good informative reading.

-“Jocić secured EUR 1.5mn for murder”
-Dačić: 35 to 40 criminal groups in Serbia
-"Underworld kingpin" arrested in Belgrade
- Crime boss held in police custody

It's very imperative that the internal ministries of both Kosova and Serbia, start cooperation to fight crime and corruption.

Great, K-Albanians are the most privileged people on the planet, having a carte blanche to do do as they are pleased, with the money given to them or with the rights of the non-Albanians,and bear no consequences for any crimes. Just like their masters- they are for the time being placed above the law.
It just make people angry (to look and listen to this kind of news over and over again) how they get away unpunished.
Are they pampered by the US to become the mafia-boss state of Europe?

I don't think there is anything what the Daily Telegraph says which I'd believe. Regardless if it has anything to do with Kosovo or not. That paper is so right wing. All it goes on about is immigrants, pedos, drugs and criminals ect. It loves Princess Diana too much as well. She's dead, get over it.
(Ian, UK, 7 May 2009, 13:35)

Really Ian. As a tax payer, I take issue with my hard earned taxes propping up an illegal & corrupt mafiocracy.

Oh wait its Kosovo. Better treat it with kid gloves. No problem here, just move along people...nothing to see.

Is this an example of the EULEX rule of law?

Seems like a continuation of lawlessness in Serbia's province of Kosovo & Metohija where the mafiocracy (puppets of the west) lord it up with millions intened to bring economic development to all.

One wonders if this covered up investigation over missing millions had any association with the following?
"It’s Confirmed: UN Mediator in Kosovo was Bribed for Independence " http://politicalmavens.com/index.php/2007/07/16/its-confirmed-un-mediator-in-kosovo-was-bribed-for-independence/
