Damir Dokić remanded in custody

This guy has serious mental problems.
He should be locked up for everyone's protection, including his.
I really feel for his kids. How embarrassing for them to read this sort of stuff in the papers.

Jelena Dokic stated that Damir beat her and mentally abused her causing her eventual breakdown etc.

I know a few sons and daughters of Serbs and Croats in the diaspora that have negate their identity completely after having it forced down their throats during their upbringing.

Remember this was the guy that publically supported SRS and forced Jelena to join him on the podium at Trg Republike endorsing that party.

And lets not forget the whole reason he threatened the Australian Ambassador is because Jelena went public in the Australian media on how he treated her.

When upset the guy doesn't even have the sense to know who to be upset with - he only wants to lash out. In this case because he can't get to Jelena any more he wanted to hurt the Australian Ambassador....

Go figure.

That 'man', if you consider a man somebody that beats his children black and blue if they don't do what he orders, came out in public support of SRS. He (ab)used his daughters success for politics and forced her to take part. He invited politics to be associated with him, not I.

Oh and you can say what you want, but you and I know the truth about extreme right wing and their tendancy to violence, enjoy guns, use verbal or writter death threats (ie numerous letters received by Ljajic etc). Never mind if that is in Serbia or another country, recorse to violence is a common feature among the extreme right wing.

Better to be in poor taste than to try to sweep things under the carpet.

whatever may ail this man it is not political affiliation. It is in poor taste to even bring it up and I doubt you would have mentioned it if he were an LDP backer

Does anyone have any pictures and video of Jelena black and blue because I have never observed any bruises on her - and she never wore makeup.

Probably most parents have slapped or spanked their children at least a few times during the years they grew up.

Jelena always denied he beat her in interviews years ago.

Should also note that Jelena made a lot of rude comments about other players in those days - was a sore loser. And in her current quotes she says something how she is glad when seeing someone in a wheelchair because she realizes she has it so much better.

By the way I very much enjoy guns; I own two and they have been duly registerd in the Canadian long gun registry. With one i shoot targets (never shiloutes as I have a moral objection to shooting shiloutes and with the other gun I shoot american trap and this has absolutely nothing to do with being a criminal, Damir's lunacy or party affiliations.

As a matter of fact I have a happy life that is conservative and does not involve repression. In Canada my ideal is known as the Red Tory Ideal (the Joe Clark style of being socially progresive and fiscally conservative).

I look at people as individuals who are individualy responsible for their actions. You are entitled to your own prejudices just as Damir is.

As for your own beliefs you must know you are a minority being both socially progressive and fiscally conservative. You also have to know that the parties you have criticised the most in Serbia are more fiscally conservative than the ones you have voiced sympathy for. Those parties are populist, high spending parties that would slow down reform in Serbia. At the same time you also know that the opposite is true for socially progressive parties which you criticise most.

In fact isn't it LDP that is fufils your criteria best in Serbia on both counts?

At any rate it seems strange that you don't come here calling for Serbs to lose their jobs in the public sector and you don't talk about opening the Serbian market by joining the EU for example? Should not free trade be enouraged?

No, quite the opposite. My political beliefs are at least consistent and don't change from one moment to the next or one country to another.
