Israeli President Shimon Peres wants to yield key Christian holy sites to the Vatican, according to an Army Radio report Monday.

IMO the Vatican should also get the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and end the brawls, petty politics and other embarrassments.

Well, this year for sure has been bad for the religious turism industry in Israel. Merchants, taxi drivers are all complaining. Nevertheless, the cynical comments of this turism minister, are quite disgraceful.
As it is, all the jurisdiction/administration issue is quite complicated, there was no need for the Israeli government to start this who offers more or silently induced rivalry game. It is enough that christians of any denomination have to go through quite some danger and in a way humiliation, just to be able to pray and venerate at their Holy Sites.
