This is not just about rebuilding houses, it's more than that.
They are testing waters, EULEX wants to see how far the Serbs will go.
Don't let them take what's ours, fight till the end.

Um no. People in Kosovo only have to respect Serbian law and Serbian constitution. These people are engaged in an epic struggle with terrorists in the illegal state of Kosovo.

What an oxymoron, obeying the so called "laws" of an illegal state. Somehow that doesn't sound logical to me. You can't have law in a state that doesn't exist legally.

The day that Serbs are allowed to walk around freely and move back to their homes without terror will be a sight for a sore eyes. These people have every right to protest for justice.

How many more years will the people of Kosovo have to suffer in this failed terrorist state. Time to give it up, stop living in your delusional world UCK terrorists.

Just look at Northern Ireland it took decades for some sort of peace to break out there. The same could happen in Kosovo again, first it was the ALbanians against Serb rule now the Serbs against Albanian rule. It will be interesting to see if the Serbs use tatics like the KLA and form armed groups. You see Albanians you reap what you sow the question of independence is not a done deal yet.
(dave(UK), 4 May 2009 17:25)

How about Preseva Albanians?
You dont see any of the Albanians breaking any cordons right? I think the Albanian patience is slowly running thin, as maybe we should start telling them to fight on and cheering.

Serbia with the tail behind its back will not and dare not try to cause anymore troubles being in Kosova or Presheva. So lets see how long these hooligans will last. As we have nothing but patience in seeing this kind of behavior increassingly an act of sheer desperation.

I think ethnic Serbs and especially ethnic Montenegrins should return to Kosovo as it is multi-ethnic. Serbs and Montenegrins should vote just the same as Albanians. I would love to see Serbs; Bosnians; Montenegrins; Turks and Albanians to be all equals Kosovars :)
(Ian, UK, 5 May 2009 01:46)

I am sure you would Ian, but they are NOT Kosovars. They are Serbs, Croats, Albanians or Roma etc, but certainly not Kosovars. There is no such ethnic race.

I am sure you would like to see Serbs surrender and give up on Kosovo. Not going to happen. Kosovo is Serbian territory and just because Albanians have chosen to outnumber the Serbs there by having a much higher birth rate, it doesn't make it Albanian territory any more than Hispanics outnumbering Americans making it Cuba or Spain etc.

What I honestly can't understand is why the Serbian government hasn't welcomed the people from Kosovo? The population is shrinking, villages are turning into ghost towns... This has to be bad for the country's morale.

Wouldn't it be healthier for the country to buy out the current owners and move people out of these centers they're been kept in for a decade now? Talk to the new ambassador (or Joe Biden) - maybe the US will contribute.
(Amer, 4 May 2009 14:28)

Really Amer? Why should Serbia buy out these places and relocate their own citizens somewhere else? Just to make it even easier for you to get away with theft?

As far as talking to Biden is concerned, no way. America is borrowing money from China. They don't have money to lend anyone anyway.
Biden is your man. You talk to him.

Those are - according to news reports - Kosovo police "armed" with shields. They are backed up by EULEX forces (with the tear gas and stun grenades) - Nato troops sit on the hillsides and make sure things don't get out of control. At least the police are getting practice in crowd-control, which will come in handy in the future after soccer matches.

"Serbs are insisting that the restoration can only be done if Serbs are allowed to return to their homes in the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica and other parts of Kosovo at the same time"

According to an article on this same B92 site yesterday, 18,000 Serbs have returned to Kosovo. Now that may only be about 1 in 5 of the Serb refugees abroad and yes there needs to be a lot more done, couldn't agree more. But 18,000 is not insignificant (on top of the 150,000 or so Serbs still living in Kosovo), and they have been aided by funding from the Kosova, UN and EU, and by KPS, Unmik and Kfor security forces.

And here we have this orwellian statement continually made that Serbs must first be "allowed" to return to other parts of Kosovo before 5 poor bloody Albanian families can return, as their return constitutes a threat to "Serb survival"!!

I am not quite sure if it is ok to call it exercising your democratic rights when your protesting against other civilians who are working on their own property and are doing exactly what your countrymen have done in other parts of Kosovo, without the impediment of Albanians. Furthermore, how is this person who was injured (by his own choosing to be where he was), a representative of K Serbs? I would like to know when he was voted in to be such a representative. Or are we claiming now that a few hundred Serbs (all males, young, with nothing better to do) represents all Kosovo Serbs?

You cannot stop Albanian families in their new country from rebuilding. I understand that your situation sucks. You're caught between a rock and a hard place. However, you, Serbs of Kosovo, are stateless because you choose to be stateless by ignoring Kosovo's government. Same thing with electricity. You're still living in the past thinking that Belgrade will provide for you. Guess what, as we all can see from the pictures of the protests, Belgrade will not. A few dozen of you will simply not win against KPS and the European force.

At the end of the day, you're only a few thousand people among 2 million Albanians. So for your benefit, not that Albanians care, but for your benefit only, pick a country and assimilate. Either Serbia or Kosovo. I think that's better than injuring yourselves over houses that will definitely get built anyways regardless of what you do.

To all Serbs in Kosovo: I support your struggle 100%. The only way to achieve something is to struggle and not give up your right to live in your homeland without being terrorised on a dayily basis. The day we give up this struggle is the day we have lost and allowed outsiders to occupy our territory.

It is natural that some Serbs would feel defensive but an Albanian family is not something to be feared and to e kept at an arms length. The viability of north Mitovica as an urban centre for Serbs of Kosova, rest on the ability of both communities to work together for the common good. Otherwise this fight for north Mitorvica becomes an end in itself. North Mitrovica can’t function normally without the south. If separated it will continue to remain a heavy subsidised outpost from which people will continue to leave.
It is argued in here that Serb survival in Kosova rests on separation. I personally think that “Serbian bare survival” is increasingly linked to topics that don’t do their cause any favours. Survival is a big word but it is perceived as a condition to free electricity, no return of Albanian families and to an endless fight with imperialists. Why is no one from Kosovo camp thinking the obvious?

By the way, your nick "deceiver" gives us less reason to trust your intentions. Your name also means: imposter, swindler

To all the Serbs in Kosovo: You cannot win. It's as simple as that. You can injure yourselves all you want during protests, but when Belgrade is ignoring you, you are helpless.

not quite true is it, being helpless. If that was the case there would be no need for an EU mission or KFOR.

Wrong Burim ;)
I was against war in Croatia and Bosnia and against Milosevic. And I was on the street of Belgrade against Milosevic in 2001.

This is not just about rebuilding houses, it's more than that.
They are testing waters, EULEX wants to see how far the Serbs will go.
Don't let them take what's ours, fight till the end.

Easy for you to say, Adam not-from-anywhere-close-to-there.
