Europeans know that we meet the conditions because they are the ones that controle entrances in fine at prishtina airport and at our frontier, because we know that this is the best way for us to be part of europe.Europe knows that already a quarter of the kosovar population is living in europe and many of them are already european citizen.

“Looks like even this Barrot character recognizes that Kosovo is Serbia.”

Dragan, If this were the case, then how come this ‘Barrot character’ doesn’t mention Vojvodina for example?? I have read this news in several other news agencies and nowhere could I read Kosovo being referred to as a province. See these links, among many others.

To Zoran,
Europe does want southern citizens regardless their ethnical background but only as a labor force. You see, they are much rational than you and me. By the way thanks for generosity over the Serbian passports and your so openhanded offer to issuing the Serbian passports to the Albanians so they could travel throughout Europe. But let us wait and see if Serbia gets really granted that privilege, than your dream will become true.
However, I must correct you as far as the flag is concerned; for your information actually more than one year now we have been waving one another flag, it is not in black and red color anymore.
To Dragan,
Please do consider the above mentioned as a reply to you as well, by the way in my opinion Kosovo is independent as much as Mrs. Clinton and Mrs. Albright are ladies who deserve most respectful admiration.

Bottom line: Spain, Romania, Greece, Slovakia and Cyprus must recognize Kosovo before anything happens regarding the EU, thus far it is just an idea. C'est la vis.

the southern province the 99% of the EU recognizes as an independent state.

Nehat,

Please give us a break...99%!!! What school did you go to? An Albanian one obviously. 27 EU states 22 recognise do the math. Quick calc gets me to 82% +/- 0.05%. More importantly the EU counts for nothing in this calculation its the 192 legal states of the UN of which only 58 have recognised. So I'll let you do the math on this one. P.S. It's not 99%.

There won't be any problem If Kosovo is ready to contribute to the refugee distribution. If Kosovo is "welcoming" these people from Afghanistan or Iraq like they "welcome" Serbs - apparently no "white list". They can use of course Serbian passports instead.

'The Foreign Ministry stresses that “no special visa liberalization is needed for Serbian citizens, which means the citizens of the southern Serbian province too,” the daily states, following European Commission Vice President Jacques Barrot’s statement yesterday that Kosovo would be included in the visa liberalization process if it meets all the necessary conditions.'

Looks like even this Barrot character recognizes that Kosovo is Serbia. Indendence you say? Yeah, right. If Kosovo is independent, Hillary and Albright are supermodels.

Perhaps many of you may not have understood the implication. If Kosova is part of Serbia, as the Serbs claim, then if Kosova is refused entry into the Schengen White List so will Serbia be refused. After all, a country is either completely in or completely out of Schengen, n'est pas?

"Barrot stressed that the province would receive the same treatment “as the other countries of the region."

I think this says enough about how the EU thinks of Kosovo's status.

Zoran

OK, so the question here is does the EU really want our Southern citizens (mainly of Albanian ethnicity) travelling visa free throughout Europe?

Well, if that privilege is granted to Serbia then they are most welcome to get a Serbian passport and enjoy those benefits. However, those citizens who prefer to wave the black and red flag of another nation may decide to wait until that same privilege is granted through their "Kosova" dream.

The biggest problem here is the need to meet all conditions and I really do expect that to be the blockage. Is this just a carrot being waved to prevent a mass Albanian exodus through the Serbian route? It stops them entering the EU and appeals to their nationalism. Lets wait and see.
