All former YU states should join EU (Kosovo is NOT a state but a province).

But first EU must become more democratic and more open!

So for the time being: no new members!

Luigi I fully agree with you.
Despite current economic problems - which country dosn't have them ? - CG will move ahead in a spectacular way. Hope to visite that beautiful country one day along with some people, who actually spend money there.

Congratulations Montenegro

To the folks that have a problem with Dukanovic...this is not about him or any other politicians for that matter.

It's about the average folk, who hopefully, will gain from this process a better government and standard of living.

Albania is applying next and hopefully Serbia will soon clear its hurdles too.

Montenegro may surprise all..and being a tiny country with an open economy, relative small agricolture sector may have little problem in quicking accessing EU..
For the Serbs ...look at CG and learn...

Luigi, take off your rose tinted glasses look at Montenegro and learn. If there was such a thing as a league table for corruption CG would be at the top every year. What other country has had the same leader for 25 years, who by the way is wanted for smuggling in Italy. Perhaps you are right, maybe this is the way to accede to the EU.

The cost of keepong America's man Djukanovic in power in Montenegro.

Croatia, Albania and Macedonia had to spend three years having their SAA's approved by other countries before this was done while Montenegro's isn't approved by even half of members.

If as this Luigi claims then the lesson if you want to join the EU join a criminal who stays in power due to his sycophancy to America.

No. There is nothing to learn from Montenegro. This is a ploy, Djukanovic party members indicated if this wasn't done they would splinter from the ruling regime. Montenegro is nothing to learn from- it is a corrupt kleptocracy ruled by a man who is wanted abroad for smuggling cigars, suspected of profiting from human trafficking and the drug trade, who has carried out political killings, pocketed massive amounts of the budget to his family and family businesses, sells the country to shady characters.

And add to that the government has taken out 200 million euros in loans (5 billion would be the Serbian equivalent in terms of share of GDP) but there has been no media scrutiny of this/.

You have a country that experienced as much as a 30% drop in tourism according to some last year. But the government claims a 2% increase./ Again no media scrutiny.

You have KAP, the largest exporter, accounting for 20% of GDP, partly closed and facing full closure soon. Essentially no media scrutiny.

You have the government resorting to such Milosevic tactics as "forced vacations/leave" to artificially keep unemployment low.

You have a country where the government talks of 5% growth, yet everything indicates at best 0% growth and likely -10% growth if the tourist season is bad.

No you have a country so corrupt but so adept at stayting in power that Castro would envy them.

No. You have an incredibly, corruot, violent regime with over 20,000 police officers for a population of 650,000 dependent on now dwindling tourism and Serbian remittances. And where the regime survives as no one knows where a grand coalition to topple the unpopular Djukanovic will lead and where membership of DOS failures in Serbia prevents such an effective coalition.
