Roberto, as an American of Polish Jewish background why do you care what happens in Bosnia?
I thought that you cared about K-Albanians and what happens to them or do you just go against the Serbs where ever possible?

You are so vocal on so many sites and frankly for an American Jew of Polish background you seem to take an awful lot of interest in discrediting Serbs no matter which former Yugoslav republic they come from.

So please do enlighten us why you make it your business to constantly rubbish everything Serbian on this site and other sites while taking liberties of attacking me and backing the Albanians when attacking me on an Albanians site so vigorously.

I think Dodik is an amazing leader, RS should join Serbia and Dodik should run for President of that unified country.
He is a man of courage who they cannot silenced. Serbia should do well to have a leader like him.

This whole situation is a nightmare. You have three groups which never could really live together.Royalist Yugoslavia was seething with tensions.World War 2 witnessed hideous atrocities which were suppressed and not discussed in the Tito dictatorship of 1945-1980.
Yugoslavia collapsed because the collapse of Communism allowed these national tendencies to resurface. The West chose to recognise the republics borders as sovereign and not as Lord Owen later said ethnic borders. What we have in Bosnia is Yugoslavia reborn. If the Croats Serbs and Bosniaks couldn't live together before why can they now? Why repeat this experiment? Why because the west has created this crisis. By destroying Yugoslavia a multi cultural society she ensured ethno majority states albeit Croatia which they turned a blind eye to the expulsion of the Serbs in 1995.Had they insisted on that Yugoslavia was not allowed to break up the Bosnian nightmare would not be here today.Had they allowed Yugoslavia to split up based on ethnic grounds with considerable give and take under Inaternational arbitration this mess wouldn't have happened.
Bosnia? They gave independence to where 35% of the population wanted to stay in Yugoslavia.
Today we have the Bosniaks seeking to establish a centralised state ( incidentally something they and the Croats accused the Serbs of doing in Yugoslavia 1 nd under Milosevic.)and the Croats seeking autonomy and their own entity. The Bosniaks threaten war if Serbs leave which the Serbs did about Yugoslavia The Serbs refusing to give anything less then autonomy with their entity.
Without any external control this country( Here I use the term loosely)would collapse in a month.
The future? there isn't one.The Serbs will go but they must give back to Bosniaks land which the later claims as theres .The Croats will go as well.I'm sorry but you can't impose settlements externally on people. The West has made a big mess here .
History repeats iself first as tragedy then as farce.Bosnia is a Western protecterate.Kosovo well that is another mess and another story,There the excuse is genocide by the Serbs. The truth is the West makes up the rules as they go along.Bosnia is a non state despite the hype of western politicians and experts like Ashdown Holbrooke etc..

I believe that RS Prime Minister Dodik is speaking the truth here regarding the history of the OHR in Bosnia.

In my opinion Mr. Ashdown has quite a lot to answer for regarding the sordid antics which were connived under his 'rule'.

Ben, I think you missed your own argument's point somewhat. Sure, you're correct in highlighting the fact that Bosnia's, Serbian and even Croatians (the majority of Bosnia's peoples) share a language with a common root, and heritage to some degree as well. However, when the Serbia populations of both Bosnia and Croatia demonstrated an unwillingness to succeed from the Former Jugoslavia, and requested partitioning along ethnic lines they were told that Internationally recognized borders were to remain intact. The Serbian population of Croatia was virtually cleansed out of Croatia, and the Serbian population within Bosnia craved their own autonomous, but not independent portion. If all situations were then equal from that president, then Kosovo should have been granted autonomy, but not independence. Since the case is not so, you cannot play both sides of the same coin. Either all regions should have been carved up according to ethnic lines, or all borders should have been left as they were.

Benny (#3),

We all have our own interpretations and flaws and we are all biased towards our own interests. The main conclusion is that there cannot be any real lasting peace in The Balkans until all foreign political influence will be gone and when the different ethnic groups will have real negotiations and make acceptable settlements and compromises. The EU, NATO, US, Russia and so on are using the weak and corrupt local politicians for their own interests and the common people are the ones that suffer in conflicts and during hard economic times. Serbia has no direct interest to break up Bosnia, but if Kosovo goes then Bosnia will go. Why do you think that Bosnia has not recognized your illegal UDI? The Balkans have always been of strategic importance (trade, resources and recently also because of energy supplies from the east). That is why The West is creating all this trouble to divert people from what is really important. But people like you apparently do not see that or want to see that and just look at short term benefits (a common flaw of US foreign policy).

It is amazing to hear how Serbs advicate the break-away of Srbs in Bonia although they have common language, history, cultue etc and on other hand do not want that Kosova be independent alhtough Albanians and Serbs have NOTHING in common, language, culture, history, religion NOTHING.

The common argument that Serbs hav used was, well you Albanians have already your state Albania. Well you Serbs of Bosnia you have already your state Serbia then...

But his is the well known Serbian understanding of justice.

the OHR is THE only hope for the protection of human rights in bosnia, esp.ly given what dodik and his ilk (of all ethnicities) have set up, or more to the point, have been ALLOWED to set up.

What are you waiting for? Whatever the outcome of the ICJ on Kosovo it is time to seriously prepare the departure of Republika Srpska from Bosnia and Hercegovina. The EU is not a democratic institution. It is modern form of colonialism that is aimed to control sovereign countries, destroy old and authentic cultures, create cheap labor, and plunder natural resources all for the good of Germany, France and the UK.
