DS denies former mayor’s funding claims

The Democratic Party (DS) denied the claims of disgraced Zrenjanin Mayor Goran Knežević that NIS and the Vojvodina Capital Investments Fund finance the party.

"he added that it was natural for someone accused of abuse of office to use everything he could for his defense"

Malarky- how could this be construed as a legal defense. The guy feels abandoned by his party and he is pointing out that his Party is no better than he is. There needs to be major campaign finance reform in Serbia because what we have is a system that is entirely corrupt and the fact that the DS may not be indictable in this particular case means little. If the westernizers pretend that they are for a European Serbia why do they not apply some of those tougher European campaign finance laws.
