The Unmik mandate has left with the last "real" SRSG Jessen-Petersen.

Apart from the legal aspect, one can see the influence in Kosovar politics: it tends towards null.

And for all the legal fetishists: laws are made for proper living circumstances in a community, not the other way around. The argument strenghening this thesis is Unmik's awareness of being powerless and their need for a change.

Unmik only still exists in Kosovo, so that Serbia can say Unmik is in charge. Reality looks quite different.

I can’t recall when however I recently stumbled on some examples of old English laws.
The first one stated something like that an Englishman can legally kill a Scot if the Bow and Arrow are used and if the Scot is at a certain distance. There were few more pre-conditions attached (that I cannot remember) to it however I hope you get the gist.
The second one stated that a pregnant woman can request a policeman’s hat (bobby helmet) for the purpose of the “nature call needs”. I guess at the time the toilet facilities were not as widespread as now therefore something hat to be done.
I wish I remember the link.
Both of these laws are still written and funny enough not illegal as they have not been cancelled/removed/replaced.
Now Ron, which one of these laws does your preferred number (1244) falls into?

Kosova is not partitioned and will not be. Secondly, the arrest of nine former KLA in Presheva was a clear and very dangerous provocation by Serbia.

UNMIK is finished in Kosova. No one from government of Kosova wants to meet or discuss anything with them.

I'm guessing that Thaci told Lamberto I can't see you today coz I'm busy!.

Nelli, don't you know that beggers can't be choosers?
The only reason you have got this far in Kosovo is because of support from certain countries. UN is made up of those countries. Go and tell your masters to get out and see what happens.

You don't get to choose anything in Kosovo. Sooner rather than later Thaci will meet with them if they choose it.
Without them you have nothing so you better be nice to them.

Ron is 100% right again. As long as 1244 is ineffect UNMIK will be in Kosovo. -as a report service to the UN. Words from the horses mouth they will have no administrative responsibility as they have "as mandated" handed those duties to the democratically elected govt of Kosovo. The really good thing 1244 prevents Serbia from interfering at all.

I turly like the part of the 6 point plan was in process but it is not under that name, meaning it is the Kosovo govt mandating minority protection rights not an outside organization.

The 6 point plan agreed with Belgrade so that EULEX could deploy is being applied, as confirmed by Zannier.

Please Kate, give me a single example because I can’t see any!

(Ron, 23 April 2009 15:00)
Ron what happened with the “UNMIK is in charge story”?
I would not consider “political reporting” as being in charge. Do you?

(AdamSRB, 23 April 2009 15:00)
AdamSRB, what makes you think that zannier’s comment is there to please K-Albs?
Have you ever thought of the other possibility (to please S-Serbs)!!!??
Just a thought!.

Gustaf: "I never could understand why Serbs dindn't accept UNMIK, Unmik travelling documents or UNMIK certifikates. They were the first to dig UNMIK's grave, now they desperately ask for them."

Nobody's desperately asking for anything. The UN has to be there by law and the law needs to be upheld as agreed by the security council.

The UN and UNMIK are going nowhere, even if they are 'reshaped'. Kosovo is still legally being administered by the UN. The 6 point plan agreed with Belgrade so that EULEX could deploy is being applied, as confirmed by Zannier.

"In another form" which just means UNMIK is there to stay! He is just trying to please the K-Albs but what he really is saying is that UNMIK is there to stay until Serbia says so!
Back to earth it is!
When ICJ votes in favour of Serbia, Serbia should sue all countries that recognised the fake state, $100 billiom should suffice for the wasted time!
