Croatia is sovereign country and may so act in the interest of its people. Frankly, I have never been to either country but I would rate Croatia safer then the United Kingdom. I do not understand all the bickering in the discussion board, does anyone honestly go to these government sites to read about safety before traveling? It's the same as if you think "should I jump" right before parachute-jumping, you should have already knew before traveling. DUH!!!

This is beyong funny, it's actually quite sad! Why would GB care about Croatian tourist???
Didn't think that you would need to be 5yrs old to be a politician in Croatia...

This is not even funny; It speaks to such a desperation for tourist money that the Croatian foreign ministry is willing to insult their potential customers. Politics in the Balkans is tragic comedy.

Now rather than providing answers to the tough economic questions, the Croatian leadership can tell the hotel owners how Croatia stood up for them. To bad the hotel owners can not use the Croatian government's delusions of grandeur to pay the bills.

Of course, in Serbia the government would thank the UK rather than pretend to stand up to them.

The people of the Balkans deserve leadership
1. that did not bloody its hands in the 1990s
2. does not blame their states problems on former leaders
3. has a vision of the future and is successful in implementing it
4. is not prone to politicking and corruption

I have to be honest. This article made me laugh! Croatia is acting like a 5 year old.

On a serious note I think the UK can take offense to this statement.

UK is right.

In general, travel to Balkan is very dangerous. Not just you can step on sea urchin, but over-eating and over-drinking is equally dangerous. And crazy Montenegrin drivers are driving their Zastavas at insane speeds.

In UK there is no danger to step on an urchin because why would you swim in that sea? And no danger over-eating the cheap and delicious British food.

But while only few Montenegrins drive on the wrong side on the road, all Brits do that.

So we made the decision for this Summer. Probably it won't be Croatia, just even worse (SRB+KiM+MK, maybe AL)

I can just imagine some low level English civil servant slamming this report on his desk: 'Balkan petulence, do they think this worries us?'.

You got to wonder what the Croatians were thinking of doing this really...
