Serbia was bombed by NATO because the world got sick and tired of Serbia starting wars (4 of them) either directly or indirectly via their proxies in Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Kosovo and especially the JNA .....
Serbia is a joke to the EU because of these war criminals still being protected .....

"The funny part: Russians care about Georgia and Ukraine, not Serbia! USA can't betray the Albanians, we're in NATO and that sealed it.
(Alban, 19 April 2009 22:29) "

Albania was swallowed by NATO, but, our southern province is serbian territory, and there is no way the US will dare to bomb us again.

times have changed, and international law is very clear on this, which is also the reason why I find the albanian comments predicting a positive outcome of the ICJ-process in their favour quite amusing.

either you don´t know about international law, or you are simply ignoring it - anyway, both will haunt you.

but, again, in order to let you understand something:

KiM is not in NATO... and it very likely will never join, given that the serbian poeple is no friend of offensive-coalitions that lost all justification after the end of the cold war.

if you really believe that the K-albanians can expect any military-action against Serbia - you will be quite disappointed some day.

There are many points about the "Serbia started 4 recent wars" comment. The simple fact is that Serbia didn't even exist as a country until after the 4 wars were well and truly over. During much of that time, Croatia led the Yugoslav presidency while a Croatian commanded the Yugoslav army. But lets not allow the facts to get into the way of a good lie.

Dear Yaroslav & Co. - when reading this forum, then it looks like Serbs (including the Serbian diaspora) have forgiven themselves (or theirs) already ... but the rest of the world remains evil and egocentric. With such qualities you and yours MUST be a superpower, independent from anything in this world. But why don't we see that? What have we seen last decade? These are the questions, which should challenge you and yours much more than anything else.

As usual a lot of lip service but the Italian actions say it all. The bombers took daily off from Italy it was their 95% use of Italian military bases. Italians even boasted of all the money that was pouring in to Italy because of it being the front line of the war. Also that their troops were the first ones in to Kosovo never trust a country who has the mafia as an art form and it perambulates their society. I guess they wanted to link with Albanian government mafias and to live their old glory days When the Albanians were their servitude's subjects of Italy.

Mircaea, Ireland is a democacy and he has every right to criticize the EU. I think your mistaking the EU for Communist Romania where people weren't allowed to criticize the government.

I see people have mentioned that Serbia started "four wars." I guess they aren't aware that:
- 1. The war in Slovenia was started when Slovenians declared independence and start blockading JNA compounds. Or that the operation their had the support of the all but 1 republic [even the Croat representative supported it as the Croats wanted to see what to expect from the JNA in a war]. But not only that but less then 35% of JNA troops who took part in operations were in Slovenia were Serb and that among all groups their was a high desertion rate as the conscripts didn't want to fight their fellow Yugoslavs.

2. The war in Croatia as a former Croatian Minister of Interior has stated started with Croatians attacking serbs and illegally formed militias blockading JNA compounds.

Not only that but former Croatian Defense Minister Gojko Susak said bragged before how he caused the war to spread by firing rockets at a Serb village.

Also. JNA had approval from the federal presidency from all representatives to disarm all militia's in Croatia, something Tudjman's goverment obstructed before Croatia declared independence.

Lastly, following the timelines of the war. Before any TDF's or JNA units from Serbia went to Croatia Croatian shells landed on the Vojvodina town of Sid. In addition to this fact the book "The Myth of Ethnic War" also provides the itneresting fact that 80% of Serb reservists called up to serve avoided the draft.

Not only that but tiny Montenegro contributed signifcantly more troops to Croatia then Serbia ever did.

3. Bosnia. I hope you know that Boutros Ghali in May of 1991 stated that all non-Bosnian JNA members had withdrawn from Bosnia. I also hope you know that Serb paramilitaries were 95%+ of Serbs from Bosnia, not Serbia. I also hope you know that the ICJ has effectively ruled that Serbia bears no responsibility for what happenned in Bosnia.

4. The only war that Serbia actually took part in is Kosovo. A war in which Serbia was bombed despite very close by NATO member Turkey engaging in far more repressive and on a far greater scale war with it's Kurdish rebels.

NATO and the US are to blame and have much to answer for? That's the typical Serbian rhetoric, myopically stated by those who can't rationilize events, and simply choose to tow the past and current Serb government propaganda line. Clearly the deaths and destruction caused by NATO bombings are tragic (for Serbs), but it's always amusing to see neglect of the air bombings, artillery attacks and sanctioned overall destruction that Serbia inflicted on countless towns in Croatia, overwhelmingly through Bosnia and in Kosovo. They ruined the economy of all ex-YU states by choosing to go to war to extinguish people, culture and the economy and are now crying foul. Have Serbs ever though what the region would be like for all peoples had their past leadership not chosen the war path?

Micheal Breathnach,

As an Irishman you should not be criticising the EU since Ireland has benefited a lot from EU membership.

Recently, both the Irish foreign minister and the finance minister said that Ireland would be significantly worse off without the Euro.

I would like to thank Italian Foreign Minister Mr. Franco Frattini for his comment. Better late than never.
However, where are the other EU Foreign Ministers?

Mr. Frattini said that the attitude of the EU towards Serbia " has not been good as of lately".
I can say that the attitude of the EU towards Serbia has never been good.

The NATO EU Members have an awful lot to answer for and a great number of amends to make to Serbia for the aggression of the 90s but also for all the false propaganda and other sordid antics they were involved in up to now in the Balkans and in Kosovo i Metohija in particular.

The Dutch Governments, especially, have to be singled out for their arrogant, nasty behaviour towards Serbia.

The Netherlands used to be held in high regard for its stance on Human Rights and True Democracy. I now regard their connivances as an International Disgrace.

Let's hear from more EU Foreign Ministers on how they hope to begin to make these amends to the Serb Nation.

It is not the EU to blame for what happened in 1999, it is NATO who you should be criticizing, in particular the USA, who carried out the majority of airstrikes.
While most EU members are in NATO, none of them came close to causing as much death and destruction as the US warplanes did. Unfortunately the US and Russia have this problem.

"four recent wars that were all started by Serbia"

Please do some research before spewing off inaccurate statements such as this. Anyone who has studied the Balkan wars knows this is false.

NATO should definitely be held accountable.

‘Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini has assessed that the attitude of the EU toward Serbia "has not been good as of lately". ‘

Hmm, is that something to do with the four recent wars that were all started by Serbia, or the fact they are still hiding war criminals. Or maybe because Serbia still holds its old destructive policies in the Balkans?! You reap what you sow Serbia.

It´s an ongoing process isn´t it?

I mean €U showed their best and most honest intesions towards Serbia in -99 to this day....

What they can do now is to beg pardon for their aggressive illegal onslaught on Serbia, pay for the damage clear the nuclear waste and reverse the recognition of their little NATO-enclave in southern serbia.

If they do that not only bought-and-payed-for sorosian hotheads but most of Serbia will conseder forgiveness...
