my dear albanian friends, if you really and truly believe that Mr.Tadic flew in because a low level figure in Pristina "allowed" it - then you can´t be helped.

absurd.

first of all flying in by helicopter is not only the fastest way to travel within the own territory ( just take a look on other politicians in other countries ) it also prevents violent incidents with self-declared "border-posts" who have had only four years of school education but a kalashnikov in their hands.

so, the smartest way to do that is travelling by helicopter. I think there´s nothing more to say about this.

but I do not believe that anybody "asked" for touchy´s permission.

why should he be asked, anyway?

so my humble advice to our dear fellow-citzens is:

don´t fool yourselves with artificially constructed stories about how Tadic "asked for permission" and then was "allowed" to visit "another country"...

"To All,

(Ilir O., 19 April 2009 10:02) "

Yes, Tadic needed EU's and US's permission -- NOT the Albanians'. And permission was granted in reality by the EU and US. That's realpolitik. Neither Belgrade nor Pristina are masters south of the Ibar. The real masters are the West. But the West currently with their hands full tackling the deep economic crisis, has no stomach for a needless crisis in the Balkans right now which Pristina's refusal would have resulted.

The actual scenario as I see it was as follows: Tadic asks EU to let him go to Decani. The EU possibly in consultation with the US agreed and so this explained the KFor escort. To enable Pristina to save face, the EU arranged for EULEX to "ask" for Pristina's opinion, while at the same time making it clear privately to the latter that a negative response will not be tolerated. Pristina is however allowed to spin the issue publicly to suggest that it "granted" Tadic the permission even though Tadic never sought permission from Pristina in the first place.

Alban, do you ever get tired from spinning stories to fit your world view? Facts are facts. Thaci said he'd arrest Tadic if he came to Kosovo and he didn't arrest him. Some threat; it's toothless just like the fake state of Kosova. That's OK, since I understand it's hard for some people to face reality.

there are no rules since UDI in Kosovo; because of this, whether it is useless or not as some say here, Albanians will always hear that Kosovo is Serbia; the pressure will always be there; sorry, but they asked for it ..

K albs are upset that KFOR providede secuirity because they cannot attack them. If Serb officials do not travel to Kosovo it is because KFOR has declined the necessary military protection from violent K albs. Get used to it, there will be more of these KFOR protected visits.

Zoran

Facts are facts my friends. NATO flew the Serbian president into Kosovo where he delivered a speech confirming Kosovo is Serbia. NATO then flew him back home.

I can understand the Albanian frustration and anger. They should really stop with the "we will arrest Tadic" nonsense so as not to set themselves up for another slap. I am no fan of Tadic but I'm sure he will be back to deliver another peace message.

Thanks you kfor,eulex and tadic!
Now no matter what a politician has to say in kosova, you created a precedent that everything is permitted:
So now ,kfor has no more moral right not to allow albanian politicians to come to kosova and speak of albanian unification!
Autogoal,Mr Tadic.

Unlike, Serb media who tries to hide the facts, the reaction of KS media is part of democracy. What this means is that we use our democratic values to express our disapproval.
The entire point is to say that Tadic visit was not on religious purposes but rather political. The point is achieved. Let's see how his next trip will be, if ever.
Internationals care about keeping Tadic in power. B92 nice work on cherry picking, but missed the most important part.
"Tadic is worth keeping in power to strengthen the Kosovo's statehood."

Ilir

pre 15 godina

Next time Mr Tadic it won't be a KFOR helicopter able to pick you up!
How can you call Kosovo Serbia when the president of Serbia have to beg KFOR to get him to Kosovo by helicopter?
Only Serb nationalist could come up with such bizare claims!
Never the less a few hours visit from Tadic didn't dampen our spirits.

Gustave

Let Tadic try without permission.
(Alban, 18 April 2009 18:02)

Actally Alban, Tadic should try it on an ordinary day, not on Orthodox Easter.

EU officials told exactly that to Thaci, don't oppose this visit or the Serbs will start screaming at the Islamic state of Kosovo that ruins Christian festivities.

Why would he need a NATO helicopter, maybe one of those that were used in 1998 against Serbia, to visit a part of his country? Hmmm?

Alban

pre 15 godina

To the rest: Tadic had to wait for Permission, and that was ultimately given by Thaci.

>> "If Belgrade does not recognize Kosovo's independence and autorities, then who do they need to ask permission to enter their own territory? I wonder how long these problems will continue in the region."

Because someone else rules it. Being delusional doesn't mean everyone else is. Let Tadic try without permission.

Alban

pre 15 godina

"The problem is that Tadic is the one who has the right to make the rules, since he is Serbia's president. "

That's why he had to submit the passport numbers, the small arms his security will carry, plans of visits, times.......and then wait till US and EU tried to convince Kosova leaders to let him in. Dilas and Bogdanovic tried it an got turned away. No one expected Tadic to say "Kosova is Independent," but he found out who the boss is. Why didn't he ask UNMIK for permission???

Spin it, but it's extremely humiliating for the president of Serbia. Isn't Kosova you "southern province"? Why is permission needed now, until recently you had no problems getting in and out.

genc

pre 15 godina

Seems that the man who lost most of this story is Tadic.

Next time it will be very difficult, not to say counter-productive to force the K-Goverment to let him in - the PM could face the dilema accept or resign.

And I seriously doubt Tadic got some points by repeating the senseless 'Kosovo is Serbia' in such circumstances in Decan.

The coup de grace is this announcement, which substantially says, Tadic flied to Decan by American permission, unless that was the real intention.

Mike

I see the Monday morning Quarterbackers in Pristina have wasted no time in saturating the media with hindsight excuses and explanations that cover their own inabilities. I'm not exactly sure what "rules" Tadic broke seeing as how Belgrade contacted EULEX that he was coming and received permission from the EU offices in both Belgrade and Pristina to come.

I can understand Pristina's frustration, seeing as how this is a blatant example of their irrelevancy when overshdowed by EULEX, and I can understand them needing to show anger. To not do so makes them look look not only powerless, but apathetic. Better to look angry and powerless than apathetic and powerless. In any event this is an overblown event sensationalist media moguls are using to pump up wounded pride and, no doubt, fuel more anti-Serb sentiment.

JohnBoy

Do you albanians think the usa can bribe every government in the world to recognize Kosovo? HAHAHA. The stupid governments are the ones who recognized Kosovo without asking for any payment.

kate

This seems really infantile. Of course Tadic had his own bodyguards, the same as visiting dignitaries can have when they visit anywhere.

And of course he treated Kosovo as though it were part of Serbia and didn't pay any notice to the Kosovo 'constitution' because to him and the parliament that he represents (and the UN status) this is how it is.

Daniel

OK, the Albanian supporters were right, this was a victory for Kosovo's independence. Yeah right! They are crying foul. "Oh no, Tadic didn't follow the rules." The problem is that Tadic is the one who has the right to make the rules, since he is Serbia's president. He didn't meet with Thaci because HT didn't follow the rules in negotiating with Serbia. Once he and other Kosovo Albanians agree to meet at the negotiating table with no pre-determined solutions, Tadic may actually speak to HT as an equal. Until then, Thaci isn't an equal.

K albs are upset that KFOR providede secuirity because they cannot attack them. If Serb officials do not travel to Kosovo it is because KFOR has declined the necessary military protection from violent K albs. Get used to it, there will be more of these KFOR protected visits.

there are no rules since UDI in Kosovo; because of this, whether it is useless or not as some say here, Albanians will always hear that Kosovo is Serbia; the pressure will always be there; sorry, but they asked for it ..
