1. The demonstrator weren't protesting that the Communists won. It was clear before the election that they would remain the largest party. What they were protesting was the extreme margine by which the Communists won, which defied previous experience, recent polls, and all expectations.

2. This was not a failed color revolution. There was no attempt at a revolution. Neither the opposition nor civil society has been working towards such a goal. And neither are sufficiently strong or organized in order to promote it. The violence was caused by a small group of unknown actors for unknown reasons. The government first accused the Romanians, and then a handful of Serbs. The opposition accused the government of being the instigators. They have boycotted the recount because if fraud occurred, it did not take place at the level of vote counting. What is most important at this stage is 1) over 200 people have been reported detained, some of which have been reportedly abused and 2) the Communists are one seat short of being able to appoint a new president, meaning the new government is unlikely to function.

While I do not agree with communists or communism for that matter, you cannot call it election fraud if your party didn't win.

The opposition in Moldova even rejected a recount claiming there was no point to it because the Communist Party won.

While I am sympathetic to pro Romania Moldavians, because Moldova is like Romania's Montenegro (it's rightfully theirs), this is yet another failed color revolution.

The elections were rigged. The communist government should resign and new elections should be organized.

Down with the communists!
