This is not in line with what Thaci said on various occasions - that he wants good relations with Serbia...
Kosovo self proclaimed government should do its best to quiet down and stop irritating Serbia by trying to show muscles behind international forces...
We should not forget that S. Berisha has visited Kosovo on many occasions in the past 10 years, even signed agreements there , all without the consent of Belgrade, thus violating the sovereignty of Serbia and R1244. The more we see of this, the more Serbs in Kosovo should ignore this Albanian (with foreign help) imposed authority.

Why are both sides making a big deal over this? This is a cheap publicity stunt by Pristina to divert attention from its own ineffectiveness, and cannon fodder for Belgrade to act on a dare - like two school kids double-dog daring each other. If Pristina can't even control all the territory it claims to control, what's the point of denying access to people and acting like a bunch of rubes? Besides, Tadic is not going to go to Pristina.

So here's the scenarios:

If he crosses the administrative line from Serbia Proper into northern Kosovo, there's little Pristina can do unless KFOR itself intervenes. Tadic can go to Mitrovica the same as he can go to Novi Sad.

If Tadic crosses into Kosovo Province from any other part of Serbia and enters the center - say Kosovoska Kamenica, I could see him being turned back.

If Tadic tries to go to Strpce, which I doubt he will, he'll most likely be stopped.

So unless Tadic decides to cross the Ibar, I see little to boast about.

I think Tadic is stirring up unnecessary trouble & conflict.

I have been to Belgrade once but I have been to Kosovo several times since the 80s. To my knowledge Albanians never felt or lived as Serbian citizens, nor Serbia made any serious efforts to make them feel as such. This has been their form of protest. Everything heroic in Kosovo Albanians morality and life has an anti-serbian motiv, the 1999 conflict made this even more extreme. In fact their very existence cannot be imagined without an anti-serbian struggle.
Even in their mythology from 1000 years ago Serbs are their main adversaries. I have yet to see one, only one K-Alb who is willing to compromise about independence. Last time I was in Kosovo it was clear to me that their cultural and spiritual center was Tirana not Belgrade. Tirana was quick to start building a major highway to Kosovo of $1 billion which in my opinion will make Kosovo and Albania essentially one state.

This is ridiculous, Kosovo & Metohija are a part of Serbia, always has been, always will be. Tadic and any other Serbian offical should not have to ask permission to go anywhere on their own territory, plain and simple.

My country continues to put it's own interests above all else, even at the detriment of international law. No REAL country should have it's territorial integrity breached because of an internal matter. Imagine this same scenario when my country's civil war broke out. Imagine the most powerful nations in the world coming in, attacking the Union, making them retreat and giving the South it's own independence and pseudo-state. Thing would look a lot different now if such a thing had taken place. A civil war is a country's internal matter, just because a group, over a certain period of time, out populates another group that still doesn't give them the right to just take a piece of land as their own. If that's the case the Hispanics will be taking a piece of the US Southwest in the future. This ethnic Albanian land grab is just the spark that will be needed to ignite all frozen conflicts in the future. This isnt over by a long shot and the two sides in question should sit down and work things until both sides are satisfied with the conclusion.

Showdown on High Noon?

No! Everyone knows what will happen: He will be stopped at the border, sent back, he will enter through the north and will hope to show that Kosovo is not an independent state because it doesn't controll all of its territory. But with the same breath he will show that Kosovo is not Serbia, or at least partially.
Why then not entering thru the north directly? What does he or Serbia gain from this humiliation?

Let me tell you something, when US says to Canadians (Harper) this way has to be done, you know what Harper says "YES SIR". Because if it wasn't a USA you Canadians would be poorer than Romanians.
About Islamist that you mentioned, if you think K-Albanians are islamists than all Arab world would be first nations to recognize Kosovo as a independent country.

Zoran,
What are you talking about? There are no requirements of visitor visa to enter Kosovo so everyone can enter Kosovo with Passport but if you are an official representative then you will require official request for the purpose and security escort.
Also, it is not just DS. Don’t you remember? IT was not that long ago where some 10 Serbian MPs who tried to enter Kosovo from all political spectrums were turned back. Short memory comes with age or desire so I’m not sure which one is for you. I think you just chose to forget.

President Tadic should come to Kosovo; meet with Kosovo Serb leaders, President Sejdiu, and Primer Minister Thaci. While he is there, he should sign some bilateral agreements to make his trip worth.

Luan

President Tadic from now on he has to convinced him self that Kosovo its an independent state. Any way I don’t think it’s a good idea to let go through, for a single reason that every time a member a Serbian parliament goes there, we have trouble afterwards, because they deliver a extreme message to the Serbian community in Kosovo. They aim is to destabilize the situation there.

Is Tadic going to celebrate the anniversary of the expulsion?
"Ninety-nine Kosovo Albanians are marching from the northern town of Mitrovica to the Albanian town of Kukses to remember the oppression of the Serbian regime during the 1998-1999 conflict.

Held by the organisation “Exodus 99” and the municipality of Mitrovica, the march retraces the journey thousands of Kosovar citizens made to Albania, in order to seek refuge from the violence of the conflict."

but every other Serbian citizen can get through freely. The North is controlled by Serbia with open borders and freedom of movement. Everyone can get through except the DS.
(Zoran, 16 April 2009 17:16)

I would say "basically freely". There is a Serbian gate and UNMIK gate in the north. They will look at the passport and will run the car's VIN number check against the database of stolen cars. UNMIK will allow everyone in as long as the car is not stolen. This is few km south of Rashka. You can drive without any check till K. Mitorvica. I was told, there is an Albanian checkpoint on the bridge inside of the divided town but I wasn't there. There is no passport checkpoint on the Rashka-Prishtina route south of UNMIK gate - only an Alban customs checkpoint and I did not see anyone being stopped.

Much more south I did observe a truck with BG license plate being stopped (I assume: mooched for usual little bribe) by KPS.

Most cars south of KM have "KS-in-the-middle" plates, but there are some with old-style plates.

DS is doing purely for political reason and they can count 100% on the "pavlovian" reflexes of Prishtina, for whatever reason they need to get entry refused, they can achieve that goal instantly. My guess is, ICJ probably.

albanese

I hope they deny his entry if he decides to come to Kosovo. That would the only thing we need to submit to the Hague tribunal to support our case for the legality of the independence of Kosovo. And I hope they give him a stamp on the passport saying "DENIED ENTRY" or better yet, arrest him for trying to enter illegally to a foreign country.

This is becoming more and more ridiculous....and the pseudo-Kosovo Albanian government needs to wake up!!! Things are NOT settled, no matter what Pristina thinks....and flexing your "imaginary muscle" to prevent Tadic or any Serb from entering their southern province is so audacious and NOT helping the K-Albs. With such threats and your "false sense of complete independence", K-A's are not helping themselves to live a better life- only a bitter life full of hatred and animosity. The reality is that Kosovo will NEVER be accepted by the world's majority as a legitimate country, no matter how much you beat your chests in defiance. You will always be Albanians without a real country in Kosovo- only Albania. It's just a matter of time until you and those 57 countries realize this. Serbs can wait....and make no mistake....Kosovo will always be Serbian.

If he wants to visit his fellow Serbs in Kosovo he should do so and no one should stop him. Kosovo is not Serbia!
Every one should feel free and live free in Kosovo regardless of their beleive and nationality!
I hardly suspect Tadic visit will have any influence in Kosovo's affairs.
The goverment should focus in other areas of people interest and not to make a big fuss about Tadic visit.

To be honest with you as a Canadian I'm sick of this. Kosovo is Serbia and always will be. Its time for the rest of the world to get up under from the U.S. puppetry and realize that this may lead to further war in the Balkans. America is doing a fine job in creating a divide amongst Europe. As they say in the U.S. "United we stand, divided we fall". Europe needs to unite and stand for Serbia who is a Christian nation. The radical Islam movement needs to be stopped before the whole of Europe experiences what the U.S. did on 911. This self proclaimed independance which has been made available to Kosovo Albanians is nothing but foolish. Serbia's president doesn't need permission to visit any province within his country. Should their be trouble the first response should be a militarization of the entire area. Enough is enough. These KLA members that make up this fool hardy leadership in Kosovo need to be dealt with.

Pejon and Zoran,

You don't have to wait until tomorrow as I have been informed Tadic and his team have requested the permit to enter to Kosova.
I hope is not there to provoke instability.

I don't understand why Kosovo goverment waste the time with Tadic visits!

The most interesting thing is that they wrote their Passport numbers on their request, hhhmmmm when does one do that, when you go to a foreign country, right...Like Kosovo...hah what a joke

Bryan:
Nice comment, you must be pro-serb.
