We are talking about UNMIK …..why? What’s left of them is some small offices in Pristina outskirts. EULEX has done a good job in kicking them out.

What could Unmik do in the interest of Kosovo? Nothing, but to leave. and at the last UNSC session Zannier left an impression himself of Unmik as the fifth wheel.

He is so done! Unmik is so gone!

cheers!

I love it how the UN all of a sudden couts for something - I guess most people commenting here must have a selective memory because as far as I can remember, Serbia ignored the UN for a decade during its war with Croatia and Bosnia, refused to cooperate with UNMIK during the formation of JIAS, blamed UNMIK for creating a 'state' in Kosovo during the PISG formation, but now is all about the UN?! Surley, Western members of the UN don't eat grass!

Let me remind everyone of the BIG elephant in the room: the UN, to use the words of President Lindon Johnson 'is not worth a bucket of spit'

P.S Alban - What's the IMF got to do with the issue? It's no longer in the pocket of the US and EU, hence the no strings attached (referring to Kosovo) multi billion pound loan.

Alban - It might be the case that the EU wants to get rid of UNMIK but EULEX only has permission to operate from the UNSC, NOT from Pristina. This is evidenced by the fact that EULEX waited for UNSC permission and more importantly, Serbia's permission. The EU understand that Kosovo is run by the UN, not the EU. They have to follow UN rules, not the other way round. So they have to listen to Russia and China - they have no options. Thaci and Sejdiu are just mouthpieces for the US and EU - They say what they are told to say, nothing more. If that's the definition of an independent state then I'm a martian.

This is great news! If i was Seidu i would use my UCK/KLA connections and forcefully remove UNMIK from Kosovo...

Stop mucking around and ask Serbia to take you back!

"The agreement was signed by Serbia which is a member and for as long as Russia exists nobody is telling the UN to pack up and leave."

US will veto any spending unless UNMIK gets the clue and leaves by itself. Have Serbia and Russia pay the $250 million a year. US owns Un, since it pays 25% of the budget. Serbia pays less than $500,000 a year, US billions.

Is Bogdanovic meeting with UNMIK? I heard he has problems doing his job as a 'Kosovo minister'

What does it take for people to understand that UNMIK is around because of Russian veto at SC. Do you people think that Europe/USA/world will take their existence seriously?!?!

Alban

"Also, maybe Sejdiu should think a little more about what he's asking for. EULEX only has permission to be there from the UNSC. If UNMIK leaves, EULEX leaves. How will Kosovo survivie without the EU's resources?"

Huh? EU wants UNMIK out even more. UNMIK is done, not even Serb officials mention them any longer.

And how long can serbia survive without EU and IMF resources?

I cannot believe that Albanians think that they can dismiss the UN.
They did not put UN in charge in the first place. The agreement was signed by Serbia which is a member and for as long as Russia exists nobody is telling the UN to pack up and leave.
Serbia can request this as UN is on Serbian territory (according to UN itself) but Albanians have no say in anything UN does in Kosovo. Until they are recognized by the UN, they do no exist as far as UNSC is concerned.

Radoslav

the UN is in charge in Kosovo, not the Albanians. UNMIK can't leave without UNSC permission, which we all know won't be given, so what are the Albanians going to do? Attack UNMIK? I don't think so - it's all hot air from Sejdiu. He's powerless to do anything, and so is Thaci.

Also, maybe Sejdiu should think a little more about what he's asking for. EULEX only has permission to be there from the UNSC. If UNMIK leaves, EULEX leaves. How will Kosovo survivie without the EU's resources?

@USA: in the end, they are gonna lose. everything.

as for Sediu, he has no charismatic presence - something very important for somebody who wants to be some kind of political leader.

he doesn´t even speak english...

that alone says it all, I guess.

Prishtina is not playing this intelligently. To publicly denounce UNMIK is not wise. When Albanians loose US support due to impacts of an economic recession or changes in global US political priorities, other support will be necessary to justify the illegal state. If Kosovo Albanians believe that they can survive without both US and UNMIK support, they are sadly mistaken.

Please stop making a fool of yourself. As long as 1244 is valid UNMIK represents Kosovo.

It is as simple as that!

Greetings from independent Holland! Wish everyone in the Serbian province of Kosovo the best!

It is indeed said to her this. UNMIK did a lot in Kosova. But on the other hand it is the inability of UNMIK to show to Belgrade where his limites are and how far it can be pushed. Some UNMIK officals flirted too much for too long with Belgrade not the last the 6 point plan signed behind the back of Prishtina.
