You have no idea what you are talking about. Serbia's economy is miles ahead of Albania's and this is clear fact you are debating this for nothing because you know this as much as I do.

Turkey is also a full member of NATO yet nobody wants them in the EU so your argument means nothing.

The EU can't ask Serbia to recognize Kosovo, because the EU hasn't recognized Kosovo so again, all your arguments are pointless and run into walls.

cees,
I am not sure what your point is, but the NIS sale was a great deal for Serbia, and a great deal for Russia.
Serbia will get a pipeline running 400 km through her territory, bringing gas to EU countries, and will earn transit fees for every cubic meter sold to those countries. This will give Serbia more leverage when dealing with the EU. Serbia will also now have a steady supply of energy, which will attract industry and investment.
In addition, do you think the NATO war criminals or anyone else would dare to bomb NIS again when the Russians have direct ownership?
Again, I repeat, great deal!! Thank you Kostunica!!
Cheers!!

Dragan, are you real? The same excellent move as with Gazprom? I send you a link with the Southeastern Times:

I followed the NIS-deal from the beginning and kept wondering about your trust in Russia's way of doing business. But Russia as the only real positive? support, has its price!!!

Excellent move by Serbia if this is true.
The IMF is a racket, and should be avoided at all costs. Sure, they will give you a loan, with a million strings attached. You will have to hire high priced western firms when doing any work, so all the money and knowledge for design stays in the west, while you are left with a huge debt at the end of the day and are at their mercy.
I would love to see these projects built using Serbian and Russian engineering, which is excellent and more than capable.
Cheers!!

"Serbia has better infrastructure even though we were illegally bombed for 78 days."

Thank Tito and the Austro-Hungarians! The only illegal thing is what you did before the bombing.
>> " Serbia's economy is moving at a faster pace than Albania's and Serbia's social welfare policy is miles ahead of Albania's."

Nope, Serbia's economy grew slower last year and this year Albanians will still grow as Serbia is facing bankruptcy and a 5% decline.

>> Serbia is even ahead of Albania in the race for EU membership. This despite being bombed by those same people for 78 days, declining to recognize Kosovo and while Mladic and Hadzic are still on the loose."

Unless you arrest them you aren't even in the race. Unless you recognize Kosova you will never get in. Oh, Albania? a FULL NATO member, and has had it's SAA ratified by every EU member parliament. That took 3 years! Serbia's SAA is not even at the interim agreement, it's blocked. This month Albania will apply and as a NATO member they will get in before you--if you recognize Kosova of course. .

Wow that must say a lot about Albania, if your comparing the Serbia of today to the Communist Albania because Serbia is ahead of Albania in every aspect of competition.

Serbia has better infrastructure even though we were illegally bombed for 78 days. Serbia's economy is moving at a faster pace than Albania's and Serbia's social welfare policy is miles ahead of Albania's.

Serbia is even ahead of Albania in the race for EU membership. This despite being bombed by those same people for 78 days, declining to recognize Kosovo and while Mladic and Hadzic are still on the loose.

So if you are going to compare Serbia to Hoxha's Albania, then he is a hero in Albania because we are miles ahead of you.

Gustave, I wonder what independantly wealthy country you hail from. As I've seen it, every one of the EU countries as well as USA has indebted their children and their children's children, taking loan after loan proping up a economic system that was destroyed by their own greed.
So unless you're from one of those oh so special independantly wealthy countries, ask yourself how much you grandson will be in debt for the descions your current leaders have been making?
I see this "Very Intelligent move" as being equally intelligent as Obama's Brown's Merkell's Sarkosy's, or any of the western EU leaders'. I'm not sure what your point was suppose to say, but whatever it was, it really said nothing more that exposing some major flaw in simple observance.

IMF making Serbia's life miserable. The last person Tadic Inc wants to ask for a loan is Putin. They know how they got ripped with Nis and any loan would probably a change in government to a more pro-Russian one. If Serbia had Montengro maybe China would give them, but now Serbia is landlocked.

Anyway, today's Serbia is like Albania under Enver Hoxha: poor, isolated, a pariah, paranoid and shopping sugar daddies.

So after been with his hat in his hand in Brussels ..Serbia IS GOING eastwards..Well it sounds a bit ridicolous since the actual condition of Russia and the fact that China will invest only with the prospective of Eu membership but this the Real World and it is often different from Our Dreams..anyway i have always advise to go East as i can't see a future for you here in EU so will be interesting to see if Iceland is more important for Russia than Serbia...

Somebody should remind these guys that loans have to be paid back. Also, IMF conditions for loans might be stringent but they are usually in the interest of the borrowing country. This is not the case with Russia or China, who don't have any spare cash at the moment anyway.
