Milosevic was anti American i wonder why that could be maybe something to do with the FRY being attacked bombed and smashed up it,s like saying the French were anti German in ww2.

The real sadness is that a young man died needlessly. Just as many thousands of others died needlessly in the recent wars.

I agree with this statement, but as far as you other one about not having anti American sentiment I don't.

Sure, cause chaos and rip our country apart. Take away a portion of our country and just hand it over to the other side because it is in your best interest and we will still love and admire you as the wonderful democracy that you are.

Don't you know that quite a bit of the world hates America for precisely that reason but you want Serbia to love them.
America started this whole mess and it doesn't matter whether it was for some anti-Serb sentiment or their benefit the end result is still the same.
Imagine a thief and a bully telling you that they are going to beat your brains out but don't take it as some hatred for you. I am only doing this in order to rob you so business is business. Don't get mad.

Anti-Americanism was one of Milosevic's tools for keeping his political position.

It takes some subtly and understanding to get your own way in the world - Milosevic certainly succeeded in keeping his political position for a while, but in terms of any goals regarding Kosovo he certainly failed badly.

Serbia became a pariah - in other words the world saw Serbian politics as being at the heart of the cause of the wars.

Consider - if being anti-American is ok for a Serb, what should an American be? A Serb admirer? A Serb lover? Not very likely is it. In the realms of "How to Make Friends and Influence People" the anti-US politics was very counter productive.

I certainly believe that the US policy over Kosovo is badly misguided - but I have every understanding as to why that policy was developed and decided upon. It certainly wasn't because of anti-Serbianism or even a reaction to anti-Americanism. It was because the US (and the west in general) took a strong dislike to the 'hate' politics that had become endemic and decided that enough was enough.

Those 78 days were a reaction to the possibility of the repeat of earlier policies (Bosnia) - that was not going to be allowed to happen again.

Burning the US embassy served to release a few frustrations - but it also illustrated the marginalisation of that way of thinking. It was not a significant event and it made no political difference. All it did do is show the futility of the line of thinking that motivated it.

The real sadness is that a young man died needlessly. Just as many thousands of others died needlessly in the recent wars.

For the theft(if true)he should definitely be prosecuted. As far as the embassy fire goes, I wish that the American People(not their ego driven reps)could decide his fate after placing themselves in Serbian shoes for 78 days and than passing judgement. Cause and Effect is the most fundamental law there is.
