Roma protest in front of Belgrade assembly

NGOs and Roma associations are protesting in front of the Belgrade City Assembly following the demolition of a Roma community in New Belgrade last week.

Djilas ought to watch his step. I think he has started to believe he's on some kind of Guiliani crusade.

Mark my words, as the years pass by the election for large cities will begin to be less politicised and people will feel freer of party constraints to vote for an independent or different candidate. In a way that could help Djilas as he will pick up the (non DS) snob and intolerent vote, but on the other hand will lose support.

As things stand now if there is a decent alternative candidate next time round I will vote for that candidate. If Djilas carries on like this I will vote for a half decent alternative candidate.

'It isn't important enough' I can hear him say. Yeah it is Dragan, the way you are treating the Roma says a lot about you. Its not just about bread and butter, its about values.

So, we did nothing wrong because 1. They're dirty.
2. They shouldn't have been there
3. They don't belong here
and last, but by no means least,
4. The guy representing them is a bit dodgy.
