The Iraqi journalist who hurled his shoes at former U.S. President George W Bush has had his sentence cut from three years to one year on appeal.

Rather than send him to jail they should have given him a medal!
Joking aside, only a symbolic slap on the wrist was necessary. After all what with all the terrorism nowdays this shoe throwing is utterly, utterly harmless and provided the whole world with both a good laugh and a feeling that the little guy can strike back!
