“We will receive all of the aid. You know that there was a proposed law for blocking the assistance, but the 60mn are not a key thing for us. The U.S. influence in world economic institutions is a lot more important. In some, the U.S has up to 40 percent of votes. We were told unofficially that there was readiness to block them,” Homen said."

I wonder where the US is going to get the 60mn when China and other surplus countries are not about to spend more on US treasuries. And are already talking about dumping the greenback as a currency of trade which should erode its value in time.

Regarding the IMF, the US share of votes is bound to come down in time as its contributions decrease gradually because it could no longer afford the funds in an economy that continues to flounder and its own debts (already in the trillion dollar league) continue to pile up.

Brave people, Kovacevic family, when they can walk Serbian streets without being ashamed to look any Serbian into eyes.
The bravery of their son was again underscored by his visiting Serbian Parliament. Preparing himself for entering political arena? Wouldn't be surprised.
I am just wondering what would US $900,000 do for Roma out there on New Belgrade streets.Sure,Belgrade cannot be held hostage by a handful of people, but the whole nation can by a single thug.

There are rumors that unless Serbia is "constructive" in Kosova, the same can happen

Alban,

The area between Beograd and Pristina is flooded with RUMORS. If even the half would be true, Serbia would reach the outskirts of Tokyo and NYC will be a tiny suburb of mighty Pristina.

The reality is, I guess, no one cares less about midgets on Balkan peninsula. More significant than the entire Serbia with or without Kosovo is the ego of some politicians.

The entire Kovacevic case is as significant for the States as a rat's rear side. But much attention was paid in BG and as usual, in PS too. Which means the significance of both is probably on-pair with the rat's rear side. If not the ego, no one would care.

In IMF: no one cares really, what is the last character of the word Kosov@.

"Serbia can count on the financial supports of the U.S.," What a joke? All US aid is tied aid connected to political and military objectives, so what is the next part of the chess game for Serbia? Now that they have bombed the hell out of you, supervised the ethnic cleansing of your southern province and openly supported the UCK terror campaign they want to become your friend. What a nerve these people have? Anyway the US only has interests and is trillions in debt and are in no position to continue providing aid to any country, they have to borrow it first themselves.

Ataman,
USA was going to veto any IMF aid or loans to serbia, even the Serbian minister was told unofficially. That would mean immediate bankruptcy.

There are rumors that unless Serbia is "constructive" in Kosova, the same can happen. As you know, IMF told Serbia to take very drastic measures that aren't going well with the people. We have no agreement yet. Who knows what is really going on behind the scenes?

Homen said that "now Serbia can count on the U.S. offering USD 60mn of financial aid".

I believe that the U.S. should actually be offering USD 60 billion in financial compensation to Serbia for the atrocities the U.S. committed againstthe Serb Nation since 1990.

That USD 900,000 was insanity.
I understand the calculation (pay 900,000 and receive more aid in exchange).

To bad, we shall look what that aid is about.

And if out of sudden the case is not pursued by American justice anymore just because USD 900,000 was paid: it shows, how rotten that justice is.

I guess, in this game everyone was either a villain or stupid or both.

Bravo.
