Aggressive and dangerous overtaking is excessively common and the general standard of driving is very poor.

Recently a friend of ours was killed crossing the road by someone driving too aggressively - it is a great sadness.

I myself have nearly been a victim with drivers maneuvering dangerously and without any concern for the people they affect.

The sad thing is that many of the accidents I see or hear of are ones where we have predicted that they will occur. Where ever it is possible to intelligently think that an accident can happen - that is where the authorities should act first. They need more signing and ways of slowing the traffic. There should be no reward for speedy driving - a few well designed obstructions on the road forces drivers to slow down. The road is not a suitable place for racing and rallying - I was disgusted when I saw rally drivers practicing on public roads at Avala.

Further the police should act consistently - they seem to pull in cars when they need to get their monthly figures up. Their job should be to save lives by doing their duty all the time.

In general the layout of roads in Serbia is poor. Its about time they started investing into safety measures on existing roads rather than building new ones with the same track record as the old ones. Improving layouts at safety hotspots would go a long way. I think the British and Dutch set the best examples.
