In this case Serbia would join the EU on 1 January 2017.

Mircea, I was today on a professional computer user meeting in Budapest. Visa-free regime and Schengen is good, but otherwise I hope for Serbia, it does join that EU not earlier than year 20017 (that's right, one zero more in the middle).

Most people told me, for Hungarian small business the EU was a disaster. If even half what I was told is true, Serbia should "join" that club with great caution, to a similar degree as Switzerland or Norway.

Unless you really want that German prshut instead of Serbian (for 5x the price)... I can't imagine my life without German salami or Austrian wine.

If Serbia will begin accession negotiations with the EU in 2010, these negotiations could be finished in December 2014. Then, Serbia could sign the Accession Treaty in 2015. In this case Serbia would join the EU on 1 January 2017.
