Such a nice car and so cheap. In Moscow with 15000 you'll buy Opel Corsa only or something like that.
С такими ценами я сам бы уехал в Косово)))

I didn't quite understand, are you alban living in Kosovo
(Andrey, 1 April 2009 18:19)
Ну, впрямь, ещё этого мне не хватало...

Or it was just a sample pics?
(Andrey, 1 April 2009 18:19)

That's for real, not sample. Thanks for the compliment regarding the car - I did hear many in Serbia + KosMet because Serbs in the villages like it a lot for the big space and Albanians have large families. The car is for seven people. The moment I tell the price ($15600) the reaction is: "I will become an Albanian (or Serb) tomorrow if I can buy one here for that price".

That car is not popular in the States or in Hungary at all. It is cheap, has no brand name and has no role as "ego-extender". My ego is not worth $50000 so I opted for what that ego is worth. If Zastava or Moskvich would make somewhat similar for similar amount of money I would ask my ego to be satisfied with Zastava or Moskvich.

And of course I am not Albanian (just mistaken sometimes). I was born in Moscow, but there is quite a bit Hungarian in me, too. We moved last year from the States to Hungary where my wife is from.

I was visiting Kosovo on my own. It's an American Kia model, sold in the States only. A similar one is called "Carens" in Europe, but is never sold as V6 in Europe:

So essentially I made a free marketing research for KIA in Serbia and Kosovo. If they sell it there the way it should be sold, there will be 2 million Serbs in Kosovo and 8 million Albanians in the rest of Serbia tomorrow.

Nice car. In Russia we have other KIAs. I've never seen that car in Moscow.

"Don't you know, are there any car factories in croatia, bosnia or Macedonia?"

Long ago they used to produce VW Golf in Sarajevo and somewhere in Slovenia they used to assemble Renault cars. But i don`t know what the situation today is.

Andrey,

I don't think there are. Mine was actually made in North(!) Korea, but the factory is fully under "southern" control. As bizarre as it is, the Kia's made in NK are usually sold either in SK or in the States. Not a perfect car, but so much better than the junk which came out of Detroit (GM / Ford / Chrysler). As Honda / Toyota / Mazda did prove: American workers are 100% capable to make near-perfect cars. But not if they work for "big three".

That little "North Korean" did not just survive the entire US West Coast, it "made" to Rotterdam by ship, than went to some "unusual" places ;)

Sorry, I had to "hide" the license plate. It is funny one because it's American but has a frame which reads:

"Еду на слух, торможу на ощупь" - LOL

Kias are a bit more expensive, than Puntos. But in general people in Russia doesn't like Fiats. The worse situation in russian economy will be, the more people will be attracted by cheap small cars.
As for Kias... there are ques for them in Moscow from 1-3 months.

Don't you know, are there any car factories in croatia, bosnia or Macedonia?

As well as in Russia, where economy is contracting.
(Andrey, 31 March 2009 20:01)

With Kia making cars in Russia this is a tough call for Fiat. I rather wonder why no Russian-made Kia is being sold in Serbia. Makes more sense.

You're absolutely wrong

Are there any other car factories in balkans?

There's a free-trade agreement between Russia and Serbia and between Serbia and Belarus.
Balkan region isn't rich, so fiat cars could be sold there.
As well as in Russia, where economy is contracting.

@Adrian
Infact..
In Turin nowadays they are more keen to these:
1)Closing the deal for Chrisler
2)Search for a new partnership in China after the last one has just failed
3)Find the money for 2010..
The Russian mkt ,for which all the Zastava operation was mainly done, is (as you probably know) dead ..so for the moment this is the deal...
