LDP is the only party in Serbia today than stands for democracy. Jovanovic, Andric and many other politicians from LDP are risking their lives and mental health while defending the democratic values that all Serbian citizens deserve, but that nationalist parties, churche and others are always blocking.Just take the anti-discrimination law debate for example. Shouldn't all individuals have the same rights despite gender, religion, race or sexuality?? Of course we do and this is what LDP stands for in SERBIA: Human Rights and DEMOCRACY. We are running the news about the incident in Sweden and asking all friends of LDP for support.

Bganon,

I do agree with you, and I certainly do not support that sort of behavior in front of the man’s family. On a personal level I think what they did was disgusting and offensive. If they really attempted to physically harm him, or truly engaged in death threats (there’s a high bar for what qualifies as a Death Threat in the US, don’t know about Serbia), I’m all for slapping them in jail. I’m totally a hippie peacenik. I’m so “left” leaning, sometimes it comes full circle and ends up “right”.

However, that being said, Freedom of Speech is hardest to support when it’s those you disagree strongly with.

Here’s the problem, they’re claiming they “tried to get to the LDP leader”, that they are “attackers” and therefore violent.

Now do you really believe for just one minute that they would organize and plan this all out, and then somehow fail at the last moment? That’s BS and I’m calling it out.

The whole way the nationalistic element of Serbian society is currently being treated reminds me very much of how Milosevic might demonize his political opponents. Its more subtle, but its there.

Cedomir is a public figure with rather controversial views, he had to have understood what he was getting into when he choose his path in life.

They were an angry mob of protesters, but they didn’t destroy anything, they didn’t hurt anyone. You know, I’d 100% fully support doing something like that to Milosevic and his crazy family, but we’re on the other side of the political spectrum from them.

I don’t read the nationalist trash papers, but if they’re lying, you should have laws against that and they should be enforced.

Look, all these problems can be solved through the proper enforcement of the law.

Cedo washed his hands of all of Kosovo's Serbs, fully legitimizing whatever the separatists have done to them, and the moment someone calls him a mean name his lackeys cry bloody murder.

I bet all the people across Kosovo province, regardless of ethnicity, wish that the worst thing that happened to them was for someone to yell at them.

I find it ironic that the supporters of a man who "got his hands dirty cleaning Serbia" are now lecturing people on the Mafia.

Matthew, trust me this is beyond freedom of speech, which I wholeheartedly support.

They threatened him telling him he was a dead man whilst he was with his family. That is unacceptible, but the real blame lies with the gutter press which has recently led a campaign against him.

Don't misunderstand me, I am all for getting to the root of the politics of Jovanovic, who his funders are and if he promised favours to businessmen etc. Nothing should be covered up.

However, I am not in favour of the encouragement of a lynch mentality through the media with all kinds of allegations flying round.

Let me add a proviso to this, if this verbal attack did not happen as reported then obviously what I said does not stand.

"the attackers were shouting slogans already seen in the “mafia media"

I dunno Roberto, sounds a lot like Bush anti-War protesters too. They didn't physically attack him. Don't you believe in Free Speech?
