If a service provider can only keep the lights on for a few hours a day, small wonder then that people (of all ethnicities) refuse to pay their bills.

But when the electricity provider cuts off power to whole K-serb communities (including hospitals & schools), one has to wonder where that shiny new K-albanian constitution is - you know, the one that's supposed to be offering the highest level of protection to all minority groups anywhere in Europe.

So hardly surprising then that you'd be so reluctant to pay a visit north of the Ibar to tell the serbs there that 'Serbia has no influence in Kosovo'.

> 1244 was biding with Yugoslavia, but there is no Yugoslavia now, is there Ataman?

On behalf on 'Ataman', the Republic of Serbia is the successor state to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia - including as it pertains to UN SC resolution 1244.

Do you really think there would be so much fuss about 1244 now if it was that easy to invalidate it just because it refers to FRY & not Serbia?

Here's an excerpt from an EU brokered agreement back in 2002:

"In the event that Montenegro leaves the union of states, the international documents relating to the FRY, especially UN Security Council Resolution 1244, would relate in their entirety to Serbia as successor."

Here's the source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/1874523.stm

Trust you won't bring this up again - although somebody else is bound to ;)

> Once that happens, the Kosova authorities, thats a promisse, will defend all the serbs with a greater responsibility.

Sorry bud, but that's not the way it works. The protection of the rights of minorities in Kosovo is not something that has to be earned before they can be applied - especially after the systematic & province-wide riots against the serbs back in 2004.

> Now with this situation in Kosova/o there wasn't any deaths now where there Peter?

Beatings, stabbings, shootings, bombings, widespread desecrations of graves, blocking medical supplies to hospitals, etc, etc, etc. All in the last year since the UDI.

No deaths?

Only on Mars.

Try walking into a kafana & telling this to serbs north of the Ibar.
Good luck.

How can I Peter, they haven't settled their bills, without electicity you can't drink a caffee, now can you?

1244 was biding with Yugoslavia, but there is no Yugoslavia now, is there Ataman?

Its not going to go for long, but the Kosova/o Serbs will have to slowly adjust to living in Kosova/o or their living conditions will get wors, now as much as I understood, they suffered large pay cuts from Serbia. Now sooner or later wich all depends from Belgrade they will have to settle down. Only in that way more Serb refugee's will have slowly come back and rebuild their lives.
Once that happens, the Kosova authorities, thats a promisse, will defend all the serbs with a greater responsibility.
Now with this situation in Kosova/o there wasn't any deaths now where there Peter?

Only if they print money because these countries sure as heck don't have it to spare. On the other hand, BRIC has plenty. China for instance has more than enough to 'buy the world bank' - not that it would want to.

According to the map shown at the end of the UN SG's latest report, Kosovo is a province of Serbia: http://daccessdds.un.org/doc/UNDOC/GEN/N09/244/48/PDF/N0924448.pdf?OpenElement

Why do you keep living in the fairytale land that the big guys in the EU are just dying for Kosovo. Kosovo is the center of the world for them correct? Why do you really think that is the first thing on Germany's, Frances and UK's minds when their economies are faltering.

Please Ron explain how do you see the future in the Balkans or as a matter of fact Europe with Kosovo part of Serbia?
(Dulo, 20 March 2009 20:02)

Dulo,

That part was discussed 1000000 times. But I am curious, how Kosovo-Albanians do see their future in EU - with or without Serbia.

In my opinion, the only just possibility is somewhat like a State Union involving most countries of ex-YU plus Albania. Such union is strongly against German/French/British/US interests, but maybe for once, it's not about THEIR interests. In that case the entire Kosovo problem looks pretty silly.

I expect Obama-adminstration remain sympathetic to Albanian side for a while, but won't bet on what will be in 2 years. On what I would bet is that Obama administration will implement drastic cuts in budget, in particular regarding finance of some questionable "State-building Experiments".

I agree. Same old positons. And same old 1244.

Please learn to live with the fact: Kosovo is not an indendent state. Hey, Germans in Belgium are also pretty happy!

Love the fact that some people keep that Kosova is still in Serbia.
How come that Serbian Kosovo minister is not allowed entrance in their province?
And what decisions lately has done Serbia regarding the Kosova affairs? And why the world media keeps repeating and saying 'Kosovo a former province of Serbia'?

I think that Serbia has little or no influence in Kosova whatsoever. They have different constitution, different passports, some countries like Slovakia and Greece who 'do not recognise the state', yet they recognise their passports?

Please Ron explain how do you see the future in the Balkans or as a matter of fact Europe with Kosovo part of Serbia?

I find it funny that whenever a country says they are behind Serbia, the albanians on this forums always say the same old line "who cares, we already know that, this is not news worthy"

but whenever USA says that Kosovo is independent these same albanians are quick to cheer and make comments "Seee USA said we are independent woohooo naa naaaa na boo boo".

So what does this article say that we haven't known for the past year?

We already know the objectors of independence in the EU for now: Greece, Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia, Spain.

And we also the supporters of independence in the EU; however, seeing as though 22>>>>>5, I don't feel like writing down all of those nations.
