ALL of these law suits are puerile - the failed Bosnian one, the Croatian and Serbian ones and the one the K/Albs would love to launch if they were ever a UN-recognised country (which they won't be). You don't make right historic injustices through compensation (paid to whom in the end?). Only already bloated international lawyers will benefit from this nonsense.

“We’ll call on Croatia to withdraw its suit against Serbia for genocide from procedure. In that event, Serbia would be prepared to withdraw its own counter-suit,” he explained.

That is an indecent proposal. Serbia fears to death the Court's ruling...

Cvetokovic and his government offer terms, and surrender even though Serbia has the upper hand. The brazen actions of this leadership boggles the mind.

The only International law question Tadic et al should be concerned with today is the fact that a kosovo parliamentarian is being accused of offering bribes to foreign governments in a bid to accept an illegal deceleration of independence.

Have the DS or the government Said anything about this? are they concerned with bringing this before the ICJ? Are they asking the people they drank champagne with where the money came from?

In the bizarre alternative, they are offering Croatia a sweetheart deal so that the DS can go back to sleep.

Clearly they don't want to go through with the legal proceedings they supposedly have such faith in. While the people are hungry and refugees can not return to their homes, they create poorly written legislation about homosexual people and as a result divide the people and government.

Serbia is led by men who work toward our failure.

PATHETIC!

Once again it shows that Belgrade will turn their backs on Serbs that do not live in Serbian proper. Serbs from Croatia and Kosovo might as well turn to Croatia and Albania for support! They will treat them better than Belgrade ever could or will!

NEVER!
How dare he even suggest dropping the law suite against croatia!
Especially after all the horrible crimes committed by the Croats this century!

It's interesting how Albanians and Croats only wish to go back in history relavant to their own cause. Only Serb "aggression" is highlighted. What they have done to the Serbs don't matter. Albos always mention Milosevic like that's when history began.

Any war is ended with peace and it is really good that Serbia initiates such steps. But those must be very careful steps. Besides you cannot try to solve all the problems in one pack. People on every side need time to change the enemies they have in their heads.

Also it’s quite evident that from many points of view Serbia is much more interested in such a national reconciliation than Croatia. Thanks to the Western Mass Media Croatia was painted white as an innocent victim being a part of the “Democratic” Community ect. Meanwhile Serbia has been totally demonized in every aspect and blamed of all the sins possible including close relations with “those Russians”.

What I mean is that Serbia have to cover more than half of the distance separating them from Croats. Because they just gain more of such a reconciliation. They have to brake the still existing anti-Serbian front. Meanwhile such a normalization automatically will rise the problems mentioned by the PM. Them step by step there will be chances to solve some of them but not all. Putting all the problems in one box will turn it in Pandora’s one.

The Croatian government is very unpopular so it sued government to increase it's popularity.

They are in circumstances similar to Haris Sijaldzic's party in years. Bosnia lsot it's case against Serbia so know he talks of re-suing Serbia out of some false hope to keep his popularity up.

The simple fact is Bosnia had a much stronger case then Croatia has.

Plus, GB don't talk some gibberish:
1. Croats can easily return to their homes in Krajina.
2. The Croatian government actually encourages it.
a. As slain WSJ journalist Daniel Pearl ahs reproted before, Croatia in 1999 sought to carry out "Ethnic engineering" in Krajina

That's right Mirko, let's forget about Jasenovac, let's forget about 1995 and the complete ethnic cleansing of all remaining Serbs, let's forget their recognition of the fake, illegal, and immoral 'state' of Kosovo, and let's pretend they are our friends. Pathetic. I expect absolutely nothing from the yellows, because they have no mind of their own. They only do what they are told from Washington and Brussels, who put them in power in the first place.

Dropping the suit agains Croatia, who is guilty of twice committing genocide agains the Serbs in the last century, and has never paid for it, not morally, not even a cent monetarily, and is actually proud of it. Well this is just unthinkable. It should have been done 50 years ago in fact.

The real problem is that if Croatia sues Serbia, and they have the right to sue, Serbia can sue Croatia not just for operation storm but for WWII. I think the Serbs should sue for WWII regardless of whether anything happens now. Have Serbs ever been compensated for the horrific Ustasha actions during the second world war? At any rate, for the sake of diplomacy I think it would be best if Croatia drops its case.

This is a dishonest way to go about things by Cvetkovic and I expected better from him.

The only chance that Croatia would drop the suit would be to do it very quietly. If, for even a second, it was thought in Croatia that the suit was dropped because the Serbian PM demanded it the Croats would go crazy. No Croatian government would risk that kind of unpopularity.

Cvetkovic knows this, thus the dishonesty in the statement.

And so GB the reason why the Croats will refuse is not because they are not afraid. Its because they are afraid. Afraid of the reaction in the Croatian media above all and the reaction of Croatian political parties.

You might want to also remember that there may be refugees living in Croatia, but there are far more living in Serbia. Further how many refugees in Croatia are actually from Serbia?

Unless you are a racist, there is no argument as to why Serbs should wait behind in the queue for the status of Croat refugees to be resolved.

The Croatian Serbs are not asking to be welcomed back with open arms. They are only asking for what is theirs to be returned.

Oh no, here we go again.

This stale bread of a basket case place called Serbia has no future, at least for the Serbs who live in it.

Equals, brotherhood and unity, return of Krajina Serbs. What planet are you orbiting?

This problem will be settled by future generations of bread makers.

Justice has many ways of being served. statements of dropping lawsuits ...wow.

country A cannot sue country B because of what happens in country B. and besides, country A cannot support a revolt in country B and arm it. that is against the law. Serbia can only sue croatia if it has evidence of a bullet being fired in serbia. that i doubt.

Croatians will not ease up because they are not afraid. Cvetkovic is scared because croatia has same information as what serbia is hiding from hague and will be fully presented. Krajina serbs were used as leverage by Milosevic and later when it suited him they got abandoned.

As for property etc, thats fair enough but I doubt Croats will beg serbs to come back nor do they wish to come back i dont think. Krajina economically is and always was only slightly better than kosovo (at best).

But they have to understand that after what happened, they will not nor do they really have a reason to be welcome with open arms. there are still 100,000 croats expelled within croatia whom have no home to go back to.
