World stock markets fall sharply

Stock markets around the world dropped sharply Monday as financial institutions reported more large losses, VOA reports.

Today's crisis is more complex than previous ones.The US and EU ( to a lesser extent) face not only the collapse of the banking system but also the simultaneous collapse of the totally unregulated shadow banking system that is made up by the hedge funds and investment banks which are very much responsible for the
subrime securitisation and the rise in financial leverage.
What is becoming clearer every week is the extent of the financial mess the whole world is facing.
I don't think any goverment has the power to change this situation because markets,money and the whole economy is outside their control.Unregulated capitalism driven by power and greed always lead to chaos.
