"Ron,
I am curious what part of 1244 do you see that is not implemented.
Serbia cannot enter, has no polictical control, no economic control as outlined.
International operations have established a democratic govt completely autonomous of Serbia. UN has turned powers over to the Kosovo govt as they have become competent as outlined in 1244.
NATO is protecting the area and keeping Serbian forces from entering.
The UN has remained status neutral, and probably will until the ICJ gives its blessing to Independence. So I don't see why you say the UN needs to implement 1244.
(pss, 3 March 2009 22:22) "

Which part of 1244 was not implemented, you say? Its the part that calls for respecting Belgrade's sovereignty over Kosovo. And that, by the way, makes Pristina's udi invalid.

2. End of the day, if Kosovo wants to enter the UN, it will have to come to an agreement with Serbia. Or else it will face the insurmountable vetoes from Beijing and Moscow.

Ron,
I can't believe this. You and some others, want UN to enforce Serbia's interests in Kosovo. I don't think the UN has that authority nor the capability (under the present resolutions).

No problem. As long as every action taken is within the framework of 1244.

That is: Kosovo is a Serbian province. Ruled by UN.

Any action (by whatever side) should be stopped by the UN immediatelly. Both Serb and Albanian.

Kosovo is NOT an independent state. And every step taken by whatever entity in that direction should be stopped by UN.

It is time the UN will finally implement 1244!

Aren’t those comments delusional? How can you comment on “KFOR is leaving…” as a Serbian extremists’ victory?
KFOR is leaving after making sure that Kosovo Security Forces, they will train in months ahead, will be capable to protect Kosovo and in meantime leaving some symbolic forces on trouble areas in North of Kosovo to make sure there is no room for “Serbian army need”.

Surely they meant the extremist elements south of the Ibar. I am amazed to constantly read about the extremist elements in the north of Kosovo. What extremist elements? Are these the people who are defending the last patch of Kosovo where Serbs can live freely and have freedom of movement. South of the Ibar all towns and a large percentage of villages were systematically cleansed of all Serbs and Roma between June 1999 and March 2004 by the UCK and other extremist elements. It is amazing that NATO never mentions this. Oops, I forgot, then they would have to expose their pals and all the crimes their pals committed to liberate 'Kosova' (sic) from the heinous Serbs!

Wouldn't it be good if the above article were to have read as follows: 'The daily cites sources from NATO headquarters in Brussels, stating that NATO defense ministers will be meeting in Brussels in June, and will probably decide to'....*formally apologise to Serbia for all the atrocities that NATO (& KFOR) have perpetrated since the 1990s. The Organisation will not only now begin to make amends to Serbia but will partake fully in a 'Balkan Truth Commission' which is being set up to investigate and expose all the sordid antics that Western Governments have been involved in throughout the Balkans.*

I know!
In my dreams!
