Early parliamentary elections in 2009 would represent a financial burden for the state and would cause new divisions, says Boris Tadić.

Yes elections would be a financial burden and there is no guarantee we wouldn't be in the same situation.

However, the SRS would lose seats in parliament thus reducing obstruction, meaning that legislation could be passed quicker. Better still SPS will not make the census (teaching them a lesson about lack of principle and indecision as to whether Milosevic was a God or not, not to mention their greedy demands) and a deal could either be reached with Nikolic's SNS or LDP.

I think Tadic is coming under pressure within DS to call elections. The problem is that he is confusing his two functions. As President he is right, new elections don't really help, its almost like he is in some way trying to benevolently rule the stupid right (DSS and SRS) who are demanding their own demise at the ballot box. The clever right (SNS) stand to benefit thus can't be criticised for calling for new elections.

Maybe its time to let SRS and DSS self destruct and give them what they will get - a new reformist government (minus SPS and G17 if possible)prepared to take action and change Serbian society for better.

It would be a financial burden for Tadic; he would get kicked out of office and be unemployed. It is funny how the albanians keep dreaming about getting into the eu. They won't even let turkey into the eu and these think they can get in.

Tadić said that Serbia "cannot fight for her territorial integrity in Kosovo without membership in the EU".

What does Tadic THINK that the EU is going to do to preserve Kosovo??? NOTHING- and Tadic knows this!!! Tadic simply talks in circles to create confusion....stating things that he wants Serbia to believe, while he is serving his own opportunistic agenda (as well as that of Munter and Woodsworth). Of course he doesn't want new elections- it's not the cost that worries him....it's losing power. Be truthful Tadic....because you will eventually be judged on "truth" only....and not the "smoke and mirrors" that you're trying to use.

" Tadić said that Serbia "cannot fight for her territorial integrity in Kosovo without membership in the EU". He repeated once again that Serbia will never recognize Kosovo Albanians' independence proclamation. "

and you will never get in EU with that attitude, especially after last's week Hague verdict against Serbia. All you will do is delay your entry. By the time you wake up, Albania will be in EU before you and we know the rest of the story.
