By Dacic saying that the Serb's had to pay compensation for burning the US embasy, then why doesn't he ask for compensation from the US for bombing Serbia ten years ago. . .

No, anything but Naboo
(marKo, 25 February 2009 13:53)

I expect Naboo to be very high on Evil Serbia's ™ bombing list priority, only next to Russia.

Otherwise.... sorry for the sarcasm and the language. I suspect, some readers did not understand what I wrote. Apologies.

It's obvious why the US is extorting Serbia for 1 million dollars. Three days ago the US agreed to send 47 mln in aid. the aid was delayed for several weeks...why?...because a secret deal had to be worked out. God bless the government official who blew the whistle.

If the government of Serbia had any courage they would use that 47 mln to compensate families of victims of the NATO and Albanians.

Kosovo is a SLAVIC word period! The name Kosovo is found in hundreds of SLAVIC places all over Europe...not just Serbia(see wikipedia-Kosovo). Also 70% of the Toponyms(place names) of Albania are SLAVIC. Berat(Belgrad), Tropoja(Trebopolje), Pogradeci(Podgradec), etc... Stop stealing our towns and villages...invent your own words!

God Bless Serbian Kosovo!

RE; Who is this Kovacevic?

This man committed a crime in a foreign country, deport him immediately and lay charges on those Serbian Embassy officials who got him out of the USA.

National Exradition Law? Why was this broken when members of the Serbian political elite who sent former leaders and generals to the Hague?

They keep the real war criminals like Kovacevic in Serbia and send the General(s) who defended Serbia from NATO invaders and KLA Terrorisits to the Hague.

The possible $1mil payment was nothing more than a bribe. If it was to be paid by Kovačević or his family, I would have no objections. The Serbian government is not responsible for the actual beating and resulting injuries, only for aiding Mr. Kovačević in fleeing the United States. I am happy to see this brought out by the media before a deal was completed. The government's only responsibility is to punish the consulate members involved and to see that Mr. Kovačević is brought to justice, nothing more.

This article again gives the false claim that it is Serbia's constitution that bars extradition of this criminal. Not true. The constitution was changed, it is only a law in the criminal procedure code that could be changed by a simple majority vote by the legislature.

This lie by Foreign Minister Jeremic and others has been widely commented upon in the U.S. press, by the way, as an example of what Serbija cannot be trusted.

The goverment of Kosovo is more profesional and democratic. A much stronger goverment than the in belgrade.
(Demi, 25 February 2009 11:13)

I agree. To begin with, it's KosovA and not KosovO. KosovA is the political and economic center of the entire Universe. And KosovA government is the most professional not just on Planet Eart, but in our Galaxy.

These are the reasons we should mention KosovA in all occasions, even if the original topic has nothing to do with it. It's just a due respect, not eTrolling as some Serbs do think. For instance if I see a big, round blackbird jumping around our garden, KosovA comes immediately in my mind because the bird was named in Serbian in honor of KosovA (not the opposite, as some radical Serbs would claim).

Serbia is well-known to be the root cause of all miseries in the Galaxy. This Kovacevic issue is very important being one of the main proofs. Watch out for evil. Today Kovacevic, tomorrow Serbs will bomb, say, Brazil or Nauru or maybe Russia. After tomorrow they will bomb Naboo.

I fully agree with Ataman.

The goverment in Kosovo are also very good looking and extremely refined in their manners and behaviour. Their intellect surpasses that if geniuses and their culture is the most developed than any civilization has ever been throughout human history. They act as a model for all of us to aspire to, although we are of course doomed to failure because the standard set is so high.

What a fool Dacic is and what fools he think he can take us for.
He populistically stated his belief that Kovacevic is guilty, a serious breach of justice, for which by the way, Kovacevic might be able to appeal a guilty sentence saying that tral fairness was breached by the Police Minister. Now Dacic is ducking and diving moving the argument around so quickly that we can't understand what he's saying.

We know that Serbian hooligans set fire to the embassy, where is the confusion there? We know that the Serbian police did not intervene and let the embassy burn. We know that as a result we are liable to pay damages - although bear in mind that the embassy is actually owned by Milan St Protic... We can't do anything about that now.

Now we know that some clown in the Serbian embassy helped Kovacevic escape to Serbia and possibly had the blessing of the Serbian government / foreign office run by Jeremic.

But we have a choice this time. A sneaky legalistic way saying that Yugoslav law does not apply and pack off Kovacevic at once to be tried in the US. Or to change the law in the way the law was changed for Milosevic (God knows if Serbia can send its ex-President to the Hague, it can send Kovacevic to the US).

I say to this government - stop mucking around and do something, rather than trying to cover up this and that. Send him away and live with the criticism or try him here, pay a million dollars we do not have and live with the criticism.

Make the choice, you cannot be all things to all men (much as Tadic would like to be)...

Is this like Mladic-style ? Doing criminal act then hide from justice and also being hided by the Serbian goverment.

He should face justice in US where he has done the crime. Now the Serbian people got to pay for his crimes with both money and future relations with US. Is that fair to the Serbian citizens who pay taxes to the state just to pay for criminals to be realesed ?

It is a shame how small and fake the Serbian goverment is. Allowing a individuall to ruin the state progress.

“Why is no one asking who is responsible for setting fire to the embassy and why the state must pay for that,” Dačić said.

This statement leads me to believe, that it wasn't a Serb who started the fire, but possibly an American.

I don't recall what was reported in the news back then. Can someone shed some light.
