it's time for mesic to accept the reality and stop asking serbia to accept something croatia didn't accept - an independent state of Srpska Krajina; why should Serbia ever give away it's territory separated by foreign intervention; therefore, Mesic, stick to your own courtyard and mind your own business for Yugoslavia never interested you anyway ...

mesic is really one of the best politicians to come out of yugoslavia, regardless of ethnicity (i don't care!)
(roberto, 25 February 2009 04:51)

Roberto, you care. You care very much otherwise you wouldn't be here posting all the time. You wouldn't be grabbing every chance to belittle anyone Serbian. Go on tell us just one case where you actually supported any Serb.
Unlike "New Kosova Report", B92 is not going to allow you to unleash your fury at the Serbs. You certainly know how to join in with your brothers and attack and support their savage attack on me by calling me Piggy, bottom feeder, vile etc. etc. and all for expressing my opinion without even being rude.

So Roberto, you care very much when you get a chance to express it.

Mesic has a country to run and he should do it with dignity, instead of telling Tadic what to do. I would love to see Mesic tell Medvedev what to do if he had the guts.

Go mr. Mesic! you are completely right on, as usual. you are light years ahead of current serbian leadership, sad to say (for them.)

please ignore the negativity expressed in many of these other posts, which is just biz as usual. of course you should not "keep on the sidelines" -- what a bizarre suggestion. be a leader, and most of all lead by example.

Mesic, should truly work on human rights in Croatia before opening his mouth. Restoration of constituent status to Serbs (remember the 1991 constitution that was rewritten Mesic?); cultural, language, religious rights...yeah thats where I heading...
Maybe the EU abnd NATO should look deeper into those values before allowing Croatia the chance at joining their gentlemans clubs.

It's long overdue for Mesic to accept reality, and tell his people once and for all that Hitler is dead and that he is not coming back!

First of all Mr. Mesic, 55 countries in nothing compared to the rest of the world. Stop throwing that figure like it means somehting. It certainy is not the majority of the world and if you believe in democracy, then majority rules. In other words, you have nothing.

Second, please learn to hide your distaste for Serbs a bit better. That look you are giving Tadic sayis it all.
How dare you presume to lecture the Serbs on what they should do with their territory. Concentrate on your own problems with Slovenia and the return of refugees if you don't have enough to do.

Mesic sounds like he is hoping for american support in regard to Croatia´s stuck integration into EU and other international "alliances"..

nevertheless, he will hopefully still be alive when the ICJ rules in favor of international law.

then he himself should be asked to "accept reality" and FINALLY do something against neo-fascism in his country.

instead of acting as a responsible politician, he is only making a fool of himself.

how sad...

In 1989 Stipe Mesic said to Millosevic. Either will be a democratic Yugoslavia or I will be the last federal president of Yugoslavia. And what do you know. This guy knows a thing or two. Thus, I say He is right this time too.

Ahh stejpan. How long has it passed and nothing has been done for return of ethnically clensed Serbs? Has anyone really been charged for crimes against Serbs in that country?

In that interview he claims it's all Slobo's fault (oluja). Also he says Slobo had a plan to re-locate those Krajina Serbs into Kosmet but that project failed because of america.

We know you just wanted to kick out all Serbs, no need to give us fake stories.

Matic can say what he wants now that he has Croatia's dream of "Greater Croatia". With almost purely Croat state even the people of Dalmatia are no longer what they used to be.

I do not believe that Croatia is in a position to criticise. Without going into details they did very well out of missfortunes of the last 15 years.

Wonder how Matic would speak if the coins were reversed!

well then return all the Serbs to croatia and krajina is and should be a autonomy for the Serbs since its their land also for thousand years

Again, Croatia meddles in Serbia's affairs.

Serbia is the landlord of Kosovo. Is Mesic stating that Croatia will pay the monthly leasing fees.

The reality is that only 54 states in the world have recognized the illegal state of Kosovo.

The reality should strictly be based upon legal terms and that is that Kosovo belongs to Serbia.

Dear Albanians, as the saying goes
"it's not personal, it's business"

or

"show me the money"

Land is not cheap these days, especially in the middle of Europe.

Somebody owes Serbia plenty of money.

Instead of "worrying" about the Serbian province of Kosovo, Mesic should better worry about the territorial dispute that Croatia has with Slovenia (Gulf of Piran, Piranski zaliv).

I'd ask Mesic to kindly mind his own business. Quite frankly I find it astonishing that he doesn't understand how offensive it is to meddle in the affairs of a neighbouring country - a country with which there has been a recent conflict.
How would he feel if Serbia took the side of Slovenia in its various battles with Croatia. He and the rest of Croatia would be outraged.

Its a moot point whether Serbia and Kosovo come to some arrangement. The normal reaction of a neighbour would be to remain on the sidelines for the time being and to not take sides.

What I'm saying that even if Mesic is right (but I don't think he is) it is not his place to make these types of comments and somebody like him making them could if anything make it even more difficult to reach a solution.

God knows Serbia and Croatia have enough problems of their own to deal with, without him adding to them.

I am also stunned by the fact that he mentions how Croatia must allow Croatian Serbs to return, but he does not say the same thing about Kosovo Serbs.

He likes to make out he has some independence from Croatian and world politicians, but his position makes it look like he is representing western interests more than Croatian ones...

Time for Serbian citizens to bypass their politicians and boycott all products from Croatia. Do not feed your enemies unless they change their behaviour. It is that simple.

Croatia needs to clean up their own backyard - fine & punish the present day Ustashe, allow the Serbs to live freely & return their land to them in Croatia & make peace with Slovenia. Croatia's recognition of an independent kosovo is just to be a part of the peanut gallery....they are still a long way off from EU status.

Please keep the focus on your own concerns for "your" country, Mr. Mesic.
