I'd like to point out that Bryan Steinhauer was seen by a reporter of "The New York Post" walking and catching a taxi in front of his home. So definitely he's NOT in a coma.

There is a picture of him standing outside with his mother at the link. I do believe they (Bryan and Mom) were unhappy to be discovered by the press - they'd have everyone thinking he was bedridden and in a coma - no word ever from his parents he was walking around. (And I expect Bryan is still affecting/acting like he's hurt/injured to help their case):

"The Post caught the first glimpse of the reeling student since the attack as he hobbled to and from a taxi outside his Brooklyn home."

"...as far as I'm concerned, he should answer in front of every court because he is guilty," continued the minister.

Dačić should be remembered that Kovačević, as everybody else, is supposed innocent until his guilt is proven by a court. Paying any ransom to the US prejudges Kovačević's responsibilities and hinders his defense! Furthermore this would be at the expense of serbian taxpayers and not at all a good idea, especially at this economically dificult moment!
Nevertheless, the charges against Kovačević are grave and he should respond of them in front of a Serbian court once the US have communicated all elements for the prosecution.
