NATO in KSF plea to Kosovo Serbs! What a sick joke?Where was NATO when Serbs pleaded with them for protection from the UCK between 1999 and 2004. Every town and most villages were ethnically cleansed by the UCK. What did NATO do to stop it. Nothing. They sat by and watched. The reason I know this is that I worked in Kosovo for 7 years. I saw what was going on, actually everybody saw what was going on in towns like Kosovo Polje. Lipljan, Obilic, Pec, Urosevac, Vitina. There are no Serbs left. What followed was a land grab. The fact that Jaap de Joop is now asking Serbs to join the very organisation that wiped out their fellow Serbs is incredible. It beggars belief. Iseult, Ireland.

After bombing the Serbs for 78 days NATO begs Serbs to help them out of NATO's mess? Serbs should not join, they would only be used as a publicity stunt by NATO to say how wonderful everything is in multi-ethnic kosovo and how the Asttari plan should now be implemented!! there is no limit to their arrogance.

Luciano, Serbs would never be in large enough numbers to make any difference. Only 10% has been reserved for non Albanians and that includes everyone else.

At the same time this legitimizes the Albanians thus giving Serbian efforts a kick in the behind.

Any Serb joining would never be in a position to know any secrets. The positions reserved for Serbs would be the of foot soldiers only.

NATO is begging the Serbs to join. Why don't you just bomb the Serbs into submission? Or why doesn't NATO finish the job the Albanians started by killing off the remaining Serbs in Kosovo. That way your problem will be sulved.

What larger numbers? Not a single verified Serb has joined this illegal force? Nato makes it sound as if a few have already done so.

"He expressed hopes that a larger number of Kosovo Serbs would take part in the newly formed KSF."

Because otherwise it would expose the myth of a multiethnic paradise that the West is desperately trying to project to the world about Kosovo.

"According to the secretary general, defense ministers are pleased that the situation in Kosovo has remained peaceful despite the complex political environment."

Who is he kidding? There is peace only because of the troops stationed at the Ibar and Serb enclaves to deter violence against the K-Serbs.

“NATO doesn’t know what a veto is, we operate by consensus, and unfortunately at the summit in Bucharest that consensus, as far as Macedonia is concerned, wasn’t reached,” he said, answering questions from Macedonian journalists."

This one takes the cake. If there is no Nato entry for Macedonia because just ONE member (aka Greece) prevented this consensus, isn't the effect the same as a veto?

"NATO defense ministers dedicated most of the first day of the informal two-day summit to the key ISAF mission in Afghanistan, where, according to Scheffer, “NATO and the international community cannot afford the luxury of that mission becoming a fiasco.”

Afghanistan is already a fiasco for Nato, who obviously did not learn from the bitter lesson of the Soviet Union. And the impending closure of the Manas airbase will only rub more salt into Nato's wounds.

'Defense ministers from NATO member-states have urged the Kosovo Serbs to enlist in the Kosovo Security Forces (KSF) in larger numbers.'

Somebody please tell NATO that it can't be April Fool's Day yet as it's still only February.

Serbs will never forgive NATO for the evil crimes it perpetrated in Kosovo i Metohija.

How can you even propose the hope that Kosovo Serbs will join the successor of the KLA (because that is what the KSF is)? A desperate attempt by a unpopular person who got his job because Dutch government decided to support the US when it invaded Iraq.

As am I, Micheal. The truth is on the Serbian side, and all we need to do is keep hammering it down the throats of these immoral and corrupt colonial overlords, and make sure their public knows the truth. Only then will there be peace in the Balkans.

Probably about as effective as asking Albanians to join VS.

Why should Serbs align themselves with the losing side? Yes NATO and the K albs are losing. They are powerless in the enclaves and Northern Kosovo. Begging Serbs to participate is hypocritical while the Serbs need military escorts to travel and live behind barbed wire. Resistance via non participation is the way.
Does anybody know how much of the money pledged by the EU and USA was actually received by the K albs? I am betting it is pretty low. That should tell you the amount of serious commitment EU and USA has. When push comes to shove, they will back the side that wich will offer them the best hope of settling the matter, and that is the Serbs. Propoganda will change to support police presence and action by Serbs in Kosovo, and victory will be declared by the EU in settling the conflict. So watch out K albs. Your time is up.

Serbs should not enlist in KSF until a proper agreement has been made which is signed by both sides. Until then KSF is illegal.

10% is reserved for no-Albanians and I belive many Serbs from central Kosova will join. There is no problem finding Bosniaks, Ashkali, Roma or Turks to join.


BTW: you hear Thaci talking about "getting along" with Serbia, France made it clear why today. On the letter they sent to wish on the Independence they said that only after there is reconciliation between Kosova and Serbia (like France with Germany) people can hope to join EU. Oh, and he said that Independence is a done deal, ICJ or not.

Serbs should definitely join this police force in large numbers in order to be in a good position to sabotage any of its anti-Serb activities from the inside.The KSF will be powerless to act against Serb interests in Kosovo if it has a large enough number of disloyal members.Furthermore,Serbs will be in a good position to acquire inside information on the KLA killers who are members that can be used against them whren it is time for the long arm of justice to bring them to trial either in the Hague or in a Belgrade court.
