Mr. Bonus-Miles must do this, of course! Only then people in Serbia will see, how absurd his words and promises are.

Let's talk more clearly: Serbia has'nt even started the path towards the EU - and this path has to start in Serbia. Mr. Jeremic did'nt even consider to ask the citizens of Serbia, whether they would like to go this path. So what is his mandate? He has none - and he is afraid to ask.

Demi,

Kosovo is a Serbian province ruled by UN. Please check 1244.

Negotiations have not finished as there is NOT a deal.

Kosovo can of course declare independence. But that does not make it legal!

Or do we, the West, recognize Abkahzia and South Ossetia also?

I have never been to Balkans, but I say this to Serbia: NEVER TRADE KOSOVO FOR EU!

NEVER!

I am not Serb, not Albanian. Just a human being!

I think Serbia should catch Mladic before submitting its EU membership application. Otherwise, the Netherlands will block Serbia.

"Tough choice Jeremic. But I think that you personally know that Kosovo is long ago gone for Serbia.
(Demi, 13 February 2009 19:07)"

The Serb-majority parts of Kosovo, particularly north of the Ibar, are still devotedly pro-Serbia. They are defintely far from "gone" as you put it. And although Pristina must be itching to move in against the K-Serbs there, they can't because KFOR and EULEX won't let them - ironic isn't it?

As for EU membership, if Serbia really can't get in because of her disputed southern borders, then neither can Kosovo because her northern borders will also be equally indeterminate. That's another irony - Kosovo doesn't gain from any difficulty that Serbia faces in her EU membership application.

Of course, a de facto partition at the Ibar agreed by both sides would easily resolve the unclear border issue. Given time, both parties might come round to see the practicality of formalizing this reality on the ground.

One last point - with most if not all of the EU currently in a financial quagmire, EU membership (which comes with its onerous rules) is no longer such an attractive proposition that it was in the past.

jeremic with wich borders have you planned to be a member of EU ?

As we can see Kosovo dosen't want nothing to do with Serbia and therefor Serbia cannot join EU with Kosovo inside it's borders. Not to mention the 22 member states that have reconized the independence of Kosovo.

I wrelly don't understand how Serbia can be an memeber of EU without reconizing Kosovo as and independent state. This is not a condition from EU as many talks about but it is a condition from Kosovos declaration of independence feb the 17.th 08. I mean if Serbia would be a member of Eu tomorow then where would the border go between EU and non-EU countrys?

because of 22 Eu-countrys have reconized Kosovo as independent Serbia cannot be a mamber of Eu with the old borders from former yugoslavia. If it want's to be a mem,ber then it have to be a member without Kosovo. That means losing Kosovo.

In reality Serbia got two choices. The one is to be a member of Eu and lose Kosovo. The other is to fight for Kosovo but lose everything else and EU-membership.

Tough choice Jeremic. But I think that you personally know that Kosovo is long ago gone for Serbia.

By his words today Jermeic has shown a lack of understanding of reality. The arrogance of what he is saying astounds me. What kind of political calculation is this? Trying to force your way into a club is guaranteed to end in failure. Only Serbian politicans can appear to be so insane! But maybe rejection is what this supposedly pro-EU government really wants - because it then has an excuse to return to it's communist/ pro-Russian origins and tell the people "Well we did try but the EU doesnt want us!". I prefer to believe though that Jeremic is just plain stupid.

"plough on"- Jeremic

You'll be ploughing on the fields of serbia that's for sure.

The bottom line is serbia will not move on untill Hague co-op, recognition of Kosova as Republic and hands off partinioning of bosnia.

Simple as that!

B92- it be nice to post it this time

I didn't know "harvard boy" was a farmer after all. Hopefully someone tell him that he can't plough on this.
Jeremic plan to get Serbia into EU, and hopefully drag Kosova with it, it is destined to fail. The little man is just too young and restless for this job. Plus he has started to sound a lot like Kostunica. Perhaps Tadic will give him the boot soon.

I welcome Ollie Rehn's more positive approach. Let see what happens. But let's not live in hope for too long. People of Serbia have been living in hope for too long. - Yes financially these days we are all the same but not in the same boat.
