bganon, the point of business deals is to have favourable aspects for both parties. Sure Russia will benefit and the sale of NIS would be cheap if it had been in isolation.

However, it is not in isolation as we are getting major investment into the company, a pipeline generating hundreds of millions in transit fees, a gas storage facility and most importantly energy security.

Now I know you will say but none of that is guaranteed and you are right but lets just see how this pans out. I have trust in Russia and it's energy industry. We can both work together to improve our leverage.

Only a totally misinformed or an insane can suppose that Russia can do all those things to Serbia. If you do not belong to none of the two categories you are an enemy for both the Serbs and the Russians. In this case I have no good news for you because we are going to become even stronger sticking each other. Whatever you say in nowadays Europe Serbia is the only more or less independent state. If you know another one please let me know.

ZK the other point to bear in mind is that the members of this government are a product of the system they were born into.

On past form and through logic it can easily be deducted that the motives for DSS signing the deal with the Russians was for the good of the Party before the good of the public.

At the same time the Russians signed this agreement, not for the good of the Serbian people, but so that they can make a healthy profit.

If people can start agreeing (on admittedly the lowest common denominator argument) about these facts I believe that the Party system as it is now will not be able to survive.

people fiat was campaign scam that eu used to help their people in our politics. it was just for dinkic and tadic to take their pictures two days before elections, same with saa. serbia for godsakes was supposed to invest 300 mil so that fiat would invest! it was and remains a scam one of many dinkic's tricks played on our people.
gazprom on the other hand is serious and professional. but for me more than the money we got and will get this is what's worth gold, that russians have their foot here in such important industry. every time any little tie between us gets stronger our chances of saving our country grow!

Well Michael or John or Mustafa or whatever your name is, at least the Russians are paying up and investing in Serbia unlike the EU.

The gas pipline will produce serveral hundred million Euros in transit fees each year and more with the extra capacity being planned.

You don't need sophistication when the money keeps coming in, now do you? Sophistication is only needed when someone doesn't pay up and keeps promising but never delivers.

So far the news has been nothing but good with our business relations with Russia. At least they have a surplus and money to spend.

You have a point bganon, the corruption in this so-called government is astonishing.

Look at the public funds they siphoned out of RIK and I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same with NIS.

With Russia seemingly the only partner paying up these days I can see the DS feeding from them for quite some time. To bad they are a bunch of sell-outs.

ZK 'It's a shame this so-called government with all of its corruption was bought by our enemies.'

I quote the report 'Serbia will be represented on the new-look NIS board by Dušan Petrović of the Democratic Party, Vojvodina Democrats leader Dušan Elezović, former Chairman of the Board of Directors prior to the Russian deal Biserka Jevtimijević-Drinjaković, also from the Democratic Party, and Socialist Party of Serbia official Nikola Martinović'

You know that I don't really believe in 'friends' and 'enemies' just interests but will you at least agree with me that one of the reasons this government went along with the NIS deal was so they could get perks, a percentage of which goes to the Party?

As for the investment, lets wait and see. And lets see if this will be investment or a loan secured against NIS with no risk to Gasprom as the Russians wanted.

This is fantastic news, in the wake of this whole recession Russia is exceeding all expectations. Serbia should have done this a long time ago.

>> "Now lets compare that to business with the EU. The Fiat deal is going horribly wrong (no payment no jobs) and the unilateral implementation of the SAA means tax increases for the average Serbian. "

Funny how Serbia run to IMF (controlled by the West) for loans. Where was Russia?

Serbia will soon discover she has been cheated by Russia regarding the Nis deal. The Russians, knowing that Serbia is desperate for cash, offered very little the Nis energy properties. I'm not sure what Serbia will gain from this foolish move. The previous comments show a great lack of sophistication when it comes to international buisness practices. In the long run, Serbia will pay dearly for this silly move.

More good news coming from business links with our Russian friends. Payment complete, investments gathering steam and a gas pipeline looking to hold more capacity than originally planned.

Now lets compare that to business with the EU. The Fiat deal is going horribly wrong (no payment no jobs) and the unilateral implementation of the SAA means tax increases for the average Serbian.

Also, Russia is defending Serbian interests while the EU continues to treat us like servants.

It's a shame this so-called government with all of its corruption was bought by our enemies.
